We take you back to 6 00 earlier this evening when we had a strong cell a severe storm move across the northern end of the peninsula diving to the south and give a striking images or sfo camera caught as it was moving north of the airport and capturing just one Lightning Strike and the downpours continued, another Lightning Strike. People were taken by surprise to see the nearby hills turned white. One resident said its the first time in 20 years hes seen anything like this. Despite the hail the National Weather service says no snow fell below 4,000 feet today. In San Francisco windy weather has closed part of the great highway. You can see sand covering the southbound lanes between float boulevard and skyline. One teenager two cars may have been racing earlier this morning. Reporter anna bell lives feet from where saturdays terrible crash happened. Two cars may have been street racing. It sounded like someone crashing them to the wall. James brown heard the crash around 3 00 a. M. After police say a speeding car slammed into a light pole ejecting three teenage passengers. One of them struck the window of this rite aid and died. So sad when you hear a kid that age in getting killed basically. Reporter police say alcohol played a part in this crash as two cars were speeding, possibly racing on west tillisdale when they lost control slamming into the light poles. Both left the scene before police arrived. Running away its like, oh my god. Were awakened by the noise not knowing when the cars are going to hit and the sense of terror. Reporter street racing is something they see way too often. Ron said she wont let her kids out in front. Theres a lot of accidents around my house and the drunk driving driving. Reporter the search continues for the drivers. Cornell barnard, abc7 news. Fire investigators say transients may have started a dramatic fire in the east bay that burned about 100 port apotties. It was a Storage Facility near pacific street. Investigators say it appears the fire started in one port a potty and others. They believe transients may have started the fire and no one was hurt. The mother of the newborn baby boy found dead near the Sacramento River in nights landing has been arrested in connection with his death. 23yearold samantha green disoriented in that area february 17th. Investigators found the body of her 20 day old son the next day in heavy brush. The coroner said the incident appears to have drowned or died of hypothermia. Family members believe green was abducked and nvrgs have not found any evidence of a kidnapping. The southwest is expecting record breaking snow and thousand of flights across the nation have been cancelled including some in the bay area. Sfo had 16 cancellations two and from fort worth. He was walking his dog when the dog fell off the cliff and he immediately ran to the edge. Firefighters say if your dog ever goes over a cliff like that, never try to rescue it yourself. Call 911 immediately. A playground sand box in delores park will be off limits for another week. Park officials closed off the section of Helen Dillard after finding shards of glass in the sand. They say someone drinking there late thursday night smashed beer bottles along the retaining walls. Recreation and Park Department removed the shardfilled sand yesterday. Now as many as 20 tons of sand must be replaced. No word on the cost of the cleanup. One of the youth and their mom was in the city and amazingly, walking by a homeless man and they saw the man pull out the kit. He was just like absolutely blown away by it.
