morning before he was recaptured. michael willis was held at the jail on charges of theft, missing a court appearance and pedaling without a license. by chance, deputies were holding another michael willis supposed to be released today. the wrong michael willis was released. >> aside from your name, they're about the same tight. there were certain physical characteristics that were similar. they had similar dates of birth. but they were clearly not the same person. san francisco police tracked willis down and arrested him at taylor and alice 10:15 this morning. the department is now investigating how this could have happened. a drowsy driver blamed for manning ling a chp motorcycle. chp napa tweeted this photo showing what's left behind in yountville. the officer was investigating a traffic accident nearby when someone dozed off behind the wheel and slammed right into the parked motorcycle. the officer was not hurt. an american teenager is slowly recovering from being bitten by an extremely dangerous snake. audrey benton was in belize when she was attacked by a snake called the ultimate pit viper. she was airlifted to florida where doctors say her recovery is scandal happening in the south bay using online tricky known as cat fbiing. the school system's response is now the target of two new lawsuits by high profile civil rights lawyer gloria allred. police say the male teacher posed as a girl online and tricked high school boys into sending him naked pictures. here's reporter david louie. >> reporter: the new lawsuits are based on complaints by two underage males who were students of ap chemistry teacher douglas lay at gilroy. it alleged he shows them videos with sexual content and used language so graphic, they would not say them out loud. >> it involves such graphic language that frankly, i don't want to say it and she's not going to say it. >> a girl has already stepped forward after her mother saw a questionable text from douglas lay. even though she reported this had in october 2014, lay was allowed to continue teaching. all red's legal team says the two new victims could have been spared if the district had taken action then. >> but for the negligence and failures of the school district, these children would not have to suffer what they are suffering today. >> reporter: no one from the gilroy school district was available for excellent. the lawsuit seeks damage for emotional distress and negligence. >> the last thing a parent would expect would be for the school district to ignore a warning that a teacher posed a danger to children. >> reporter: victims is claim that douglas lay gave students failing grades to coerce them to attend after school to you toring where they claim they faced additional harassment. >> we've only filed three lawsuits so far. this is not the end. >> reporter: david louie, abc7 news. we are hearing tonight from i former chief of the oakland police department on massive can dal rocking that department. plus, there are new questions about comments made by the man temporarily heading the police department. abc7 news reporter laura anthony is on the story. >> i'm deeply embarrassed and shamed. >> reporter: former chief howard jordan hasn't been the head of the oakland police department for three years but still, he says the current scandals have rocked him to the core. >> it's very unsettling. it's very embarrassing to say the least for the people that are still there even the ones that are retired like myself to have to explain the actions of a few. >> reporter: so far, five oakland officers have been placed on leave. two of those have resigned amid allegations of sex with an underage prostitute, racist texts and other behavior on the part of officers some of them high ranking. now acting chief david downing has come under fire for suggesting a year ago that water cannons could be used on protests are a comment the mayor says was taken out of context and not racially motivated. >> i don't want to go down that road. that's junior highish to me. >> civil rights attorney john burris doesn't think the focus right now should be on downing. > i'm more concerned under have orders. earlier today, residents of 500 homes were able to return for the first time since monday fires are currently 10% contained. firefighters from alameda county and santa clara county u.s. forest services is reporting an estimated 66 million trees have died since 2010. 26 million between last october and there month alone. the causes range from drought, warmer temperatures and a required an extraordinary level of skill and courage. >> reporter: two twin otters flew from canada to chile to antarctica. one undertaking the 1500 mile flight to the south pole. second plane staying saturday will be pink. the huge street party which coincides with the start of pride week in san francisco had been canceled after no one wanted to host it. now it's back. it will not happen in the castro like years past. news reporter has the story. >> 12th and harrison streets in the south and market districts will be the new location for pink saturday inside this parking lot across the street from eagle bar hosted by the sisters of perpetual indulgence was always held in the castro. >> we want it to be based in community, run by the community. it's going to be smaller and safer. >> reporter: for nearly 25 years, the sisters of per pet requestule indulgence an have hosted one of the biggest parties in the community one in recent years became the biggest headache for residents and businesses in the castro. the last pink saturday held in 2014 was marred by violence. the sisters, a non-profit organization, decided it was unmanageable and while last year another organization held a pink party, this year, there were no takers until the sisters had a change of heart. >> we're taking the name back,t. pink saturday is ours. it will always be ourself. >> reporter: most businesses in the castro hope they saturday the crowds end up at pink saturday 1.5 miles away. >> it kind of makes sense to scale it down and take a step back. you know, at this bar, we want people to be safe. you know. >> reporter: this time, there will be a $10 entrance fee. part of the money will help pay for security and the rest of the proceeds will go to the victims and families of the orlando shooting. one of the owners of sf eagle doesn't want this event to disappear like halloween in the castro did several years ago. >> there's no need for another big party that celebrates community to intuitive surgical, themakers of the da vinci robotic surgery system for their annual robonanza. student groups shows off their robotic creations competing in a basketball like game featuring heavy objects to throw. the teams have six weeks to build and test their designs. >> set it to different level of compression and sent it to a graph who figure out how much compression would maximize our
