Burning this afternoon at chestnut avenue, lisa joins us live from South San Francisco with a look at the response. Lisa . Ama, a very strong response from firefighters. In fact, crews are still out here trying to make sure that this fire does not reignite because at one point flames shot up into the air 60 feet. It was a fullfledged fire fight from the getgo on San Bruno Mountain this afternoon. Crews attacked the fire from above. And from the ground, getting on top of it was crucial. This was a challenge of a fire due to the popping pograph. Reporter slowing it down did not mean knocking it down. The heat conditions did not help. There were some voluntarily evacuations. I just took my evening medicine for blood pressure. Reporter standing by and watching the flames rush along the boulevard was too much for some residents and so they leapt into action. They attached as many garden hoses as they could find and started spraying. They evening managed to put out some small flames on their own. But they were glad when the experts arrived. The fire engulfed 40 acres of a mountain and came close to the mon montessori school. Thankfully it was closed today. Fortunately no structures were damaged and no one was hurt. Firefighters are making progress with the rim fire. Aerial drop spots last night helped keep flames within containment lines. Federal teams are heading to the scene to assess the damage. Containment remains at 80 with full containment now expected on friday, september 20th. The fire that crews say was started by an illegal camp fire has now burned 394 square miles. It started near mayberry road around 11 00 night. Firefighters raced to the scene. No people were hurt but a dog was hurt and is recovering. Police in vallejo are searching for a gunman after a triple shooting that killed an 18yearold man. It happened just before 11 30 last night on louisiana street near city park. Officers found a white honda at the scene riddled with bullet holes. The driver died. Two passengers 16 and 17 years old were wounded and are in the hospital. Police believe someone drove by and shot the people. On the east side, several people reported hearing shots on gilchrist drive. They are interviewing someone they call a possible suspect. They havent released a motive in the shooting. A man was rescued from the bay and dive crews responded to the scene near the ferry building. Its believed the man intentionally jumped into the water. Once crews reached him, he was able to pull himself back out on his own. Police havent said why they took him into custody. The president continues to push for support for a strike against syria. The president says its prove that the Syrian Government used nerve gas against its own people and shows the after effects of the gas. The president will give a speech on tuesday.
