Im dan ashley and we have learned that a stolen laptop was found in a man who has been arrested. A 23year veteran was shot to death by his own partner. We are told that the officer who fired the shot is Michael Maize who has been on the force for more than a decade. Our reporter is on the story for us, and we will begin with wayne. How it happened and why it happened, after this double shooting in dublin, investigators have questions about an apartment search. You never know what is on the other side of the door. And the Barton Police chief waiting to hear the how and why that led to the shooting death of 23year veteran tommy smith. He died from a bullet fired by as of yet unname d officer. And tonight, they have identified the man whose apartment was being searched at the time, John Henry Lee of dublin who is facing charges of robbing a rider at the fruitvail line. Police say he held up the commuter at gunpoint and took his wallet and laptop. He was arrested on january 16th and still in custody yesterday, and the officers were searching his home related to the warrant when that tragedy involving officer smith happened. The mayor wanted flags to be flown at halfstaff. And talking to the b. A. R. T. Riders we found people sympathetic and skeptical. It is a sad thing for both families, the person who accidentally shot him, and the obviously, the victims family. So, yeah. I it is just a very sad thing. Every shooting seems to be an accident or not intentional, and Something Like that, and i think that if these police, i mean, im for the police, but if they cant handle the guns right, maybe they need another type of weapon. Reporter and maybe it is shady, but it is not enough to make a arrest. A lot of it could be stolen and very well could be stolen. I have ran countless serial number numbers on the bicycles and they always come can back unreported. Reporter if you dont report your bike stolen, police will not catch the thieves.
