Huge spectacle you can see it from all over the bay but tonight it looks like they have control of this fire. The firefighters took defensive strategy from the get go. They got here around 5 00 oclock this evening and couldnt really see where the smoke water coming from and then suddenly it just ignited that a ball of fire and smoke that could be seen from all around the bay. The plan was to put every available hose on this fire and just soak it down. That meant calling the Water Department and averting more pressure to the hydrant out here. 150 firefighters were called out to ballots this thing. Thats almost half the entire San FranciscoFire Department. The building is an apartment under construction. This is a new residential area with few People Living down here but there were some people directly across the street living there and one woman told us she walked that the lobby of her place looked behind her and realize there were several firefighters behind her. Whatever was burke had an hour to smolder. On scene no visible flame. It was the initial report. And then we saw some smoke and it really tack off. Followed me in inside. Call the fire alarm every Everybody Needs to evacuate the building. I was standing pretty close and the heat was intense. Fire was just insane how big it got. Really worried it would spread to the buildings and also this building over here. That heat was so intense the woman we just spoke to said she ran out of the be and could hear the window of her apartment cracking as she left. Thats why the Fire Department had to put up what is called a water curtain essentially the spraying the radiant heat to keep it from cracking the window and igniting the building across the street. 2 of the apartments were evacuated. And many people were worried that they couldnt get their pets out of there. We havent heard whether or not they have been let in at all at this time. We are told that the construction workers had gone home for the day around 4 00 oclock so there were no construction workers in the building. San jose Police Officer turned himself in after being charged with force i believe rape. 38yearold jeffrey graves has been a cop for 6 years. The victim is a woman he was sent to protect during a domestic dispute. David lou is story. Neither the police or District Attorney office is saying where the rape occurred except it was a hotel where the victim once worked as a maid. 6 year veteran jeffrey graves is one of the 2 officers who responded to disturbance at the home of the woman and her husband. To resolve the problem the woman said she would take a room at the hotel for the night. 2 officers took her there however a Police Document says while one officer left graivts stayed behind. The officer gained information. And location of hotel room then went up there approximately 15 minutes later and knocked on the door. Unbee known as to her she opened the door. She was asleep. Thats when he let himself in. And forcibly pushed her on the bed. Victim didnt report the incident for 3 week when she did she went to the chp not san jose police.
