The governor has declared a state of emergency in california. At least 30 homes have burned. Thacuationre in san marcos, and a calfire team from santa clara is working the fire. The sheer numbers of firefighters show a state of emergency. Abc News Reporter devin dwyer is there. Reporter across Southern California the fires popped up quickly and spread fast. Oh, my god oh, my gosh. Reporter a terrifying advance of flames near san diego that forced thousands of residents to evacuate. It just seemed like we were going to be safe and were not. So we just packed everything out of there. Reporter in carlsbad, the fire destroyed dozens of homes, including where this person has lived for 50 years. I am just doing the best i can. Reporter what are you going to do . Rebuild. Reporter in the heat, the firefighters from across the state put up a fight on the front lines. Overhead, helicopters and air tankers dropped their loads but could not keep the fire contained. I have done this 35 years, this is some of the most radical fire ive seen. Reporter the heat and the gusty winds created these explosions, with smoke and burning embers. At least half a dozen california fires are blazing from lake side to long beach where firefighters hosed down the burning palms. In this san diego neighborhood where nearly 1600 acres burned yesterday. Homeowners are returning but still on high alert. Our resources are doing their best to reduce damage and put the fires out. But richmond, oakland, all have records for this day. And even now as you look at the 24hour change some locations are a couple of degrees warmer tonig tonight. Fairfield 30 degrees warmer, novato, 40 degrees cooler. Early tomorrow morning the winds will be light and variable. There will be a breeze, not really winds. But later in the day by midafternoon well have a rather brisk onshore seabreeze bringing significant cooling to the coastal areas. Still will be warm inland tomorrow but all areas will be cooler by friday. And ill give you a look at friday and beyond in just moments. All right, thank you very much. Happening now firefighters are on scene of a blaze in milipitas, just west of 880. Again in milpitas, the firefighters had trouble finding the source of the flames in a pile of debris, five feet high. The spokesperson for the San Francisco parking and traffic warns cars will be towed if they get complaints from race organizers. The record highs have peaked and that will be moving out of here over the next day or two and coming in its place will be the much cooler air mass that will bring us air wide cooling by the end of the week, certainly by the weekend. North bay highs still warm to hot but not quite so hot as the last couple of days, 89 at san jo jose, newark, 88, inland east bay will be hot with highs in the lowtomid 90s, 95 at fairfield, antioch, and liver more, 93. And the sevenday forecast, cooler all across the bay area on friday and further cooling over the weekend. Next week, highs only in the mid70s inland. 70 around the bay and only about 60 on the coast.
