The town of cobb southwest of lower lake and highway 29. The fire started at 1 30 this afternoon and blew up to 400 acres within a matter of hours. Right now firefighters have zero containment. It has spread so rapidly that all 1800 people in the town of cobb are being told they need to evacuate. Some people had only a few minutes to grab what they could and get out. If i could help anybody, i was trying to help our neighbors. And my animals. And my children. Thats and pictures, thats all i could think about. You did great. I wish i could help the people across the street from us more. She says her neighbors lost a bar that dates back to the 1800s. She says the flames got so close, she could feel the heat. Now the four injured firefighters were airlifted to uc davis just a few hours ago. The hospital there has a burn unit and cal fire says they were with the helicopter crew based out of lake county. Their conditions have not been released. Governor brown has declared a state of emergency for parts of the counties where the butte fire is still raging tonight. The wildfire has scorched almost 65,000 acres and as of this hour, it is 10 contained. But 6400 structures have still threat are thrill consistentened and threatened and still threatened and reporter Wendy Gillette is there for us. Reporter the roaring butte wildfire exploded over the past two days. The flames have destroyed more than a dozen structures and are threatening thousands of homes. Gentleman who just left shade everything is threatened right now said that everything is threatened right now and were hoping for the best. Reporter 3,000 firefighters are the place and more are on in place and more are on the way. Yeah its pretty close right there. Adding insult to injury, looters are starting to zero in on evacuated homes in the area. Officers arrested an oakland man at a house in san andreas earlier today. They say it appears he forced his way in to steal their stuff. Well, oaklands mayor is speaking out tonight about the release of graphic footage from police body cameras. It details a pair of deadly encounters between officers and suspects. As sharon chin joins us now and this is opening up a whole new debate on how much the public can see. Reporter absolutely. Mayor libby schaaf says she has seen all of the body camera video from each of the officer involved shootings this year. Now the question . Should we all see them too . I think that we are in uncharted waters. Reporter this is one of the two test camera videos Oakland Police released after we splitted a public submitted a public regards act request. Just before records act request. Just before the officers give the command then gunfire. We have blurred the body of nate wilkes who fell to the ground. The video appears to confirm what police told us about the incident. Also what was reported in the news was that the gentleman did turn and run towards officers with a gun in his hand. And it is for the court and the investigative process to determine the appropriateness of the officers actions. Reporter the other video was from a july 19th chase where police drag out the body of 23yearold richard lanyard who squeezed himself into a space less than a foot wide. Families absolutely deserve to see this footage and have their questions answered and they deserve to have their attorneys present while they view it. Reporter what about releasing the video for all to see . I think that uniform policy should be that they should all be released unless theres some dramatic exception that warrants it not be released. The question of the question of a more full release to the whole pink is one that is public is one thats very troublesome to me. Reporter mayor schaaf says there needs to be a balance between the publics right to know what happens with their government and the right of privacy for the victim and the family. She says she wants to have is a deep public a deep public discussion for making any before making any decision on the release of the footage. Thats a tough balance. A mans body was found next to a car at about 2 00 in the morning at belvedere court. So far no leads on the gunman or the motive. The victims name has not been released. And thieves stole about 100 pairs of shoes and other running gear meant for oakland kids in need. They broke into an old ambulance that the Nonprofit Organization running for a better oakland uses as a mobile storage unit. The group trains kids to run 5ks and half marathons to keep them healthy. Sometime wednesday morning, the thieves made off with all of their donations including shoes, shirts, Water Bottles and snacks. Thieves had a sign on here saying the stuff thats in here is for needy kids and they still took it. Negative event. There will be positive out of this. Well be a Stronger Organization after it. We are already feeling the love from the community. And the kids start training next saturday. The nonprofit says the couple of organizations have already donated shoes and snacks to fill the gap. Meanwhile, an east bay man has his prized possession back tonight after it turned up in the junk yard in oakland. The scriptage mustang the named red and is named red and worth more than 100,000. It was stolen from san ramon this week. Amazingly when the chp found the trailer last night the car was totally intact. The thieves are still on the loose. Hes sort of like their father, proud to see them released back home to their native lake. Ive seen every one of them from the time there were an egg. Reporter at one time they flourished. Everywhere up and down coast. Reporter but that was a long time ago. Before humans knocked down their numbers. Before dirty runoff from the freeways seeped into the lake and hungry 49ers during the gold rush era thought the turtles would make a good meal. They became a lot of turtle soup actually. It was a really popular thing for people to eat in the late 19th century. And as far as we can tell, the turtles disappeared right about then. Reporter but the hope here is that slow march towards extinction ends today. Were always working to make the presidio healthier and healthier and this project is just one of piece of that at mountain lake. Reporter the lake has been cleared and now the western pond turtles the ones who lives here decades ago can Call Mountain lake home once again. Really proud to have have chance.
