The storm left plenty of damage behind. Tree limbs came crashing down on cars along mcalister street. It also brought down some muni wires. Crews spent a good daily of the day fixing those wires. Some storm drains in San Francisco couldnt handle all the rain, turning streets into small lakes. Firefighters were out all over town clearing away leaves and other debris. One woman near golden gate and goffe took it upon herself to help. We need some help from the city to unclog the drains. So the water is going to flood some cars over here. This mornings storm brought about an inch of rain to San Francisco. Theyre cleaning up in the east bay as well. A huge tree came down crushing a car and damaging two homes on 10th street next to lake elementary school. Nobody was hurt. Workers came in to remove the tree. And in martinez many people started the day without power as these wires came down on pacheco boulevard cutting electricity to a good part of the east side of the city. Police blocked off part of the street so that crews could get the power restored. And in the north bay the wind has been causing all kinds of problems. A redwood tree came crashing down taking some electrical lines with it. You can see the wires on the ground, actually smoking. Since the tree was blocking a street, some homeowners were trapped until crews could clean up the mess. Also, in monterio the town Christmas Tree toppled. Fortunately no one was hurt but fire crews had to chop it down by at least six feet. The same tree fell over in another storm a few days ago. A couple of nights ago trees across the street came down, so this morning during the wind storm it picked it up and brought it out of the holder we made for it. The wind also blew a big plexiglass panel off this bus shelter. In near bey jenner coastal flooding began a couple days ago thanks to several days of rain. Look at that. Todays wet weather added to everything. In some spots people are using kayaks to get around. Good luck getting to the post office to check the mail or send off your christmas cards. Weve kind of got a perfect storm here where we had rainfall the last two days, and very high storm event this whole last week. The waves were as high as 25 feet. The high surf only making matters worse and trapping flood waters along the coast. In addition to the post office theres also flooding at the Visitors Center and several nearby businesses. No word on how much damage has been done. Most of the rape has headed south and out of the bay area with just a few popup showers remaining. Th und the weather may be to blame for a crash in the east bay that killed a couple and left two children injured. The car skidded off eastbound 580 near grant line road just east of altamonte. Investigators say it flipped several times as it went down the embankment. The medical examiner is working to identify the man and woman killed in the crash. It is believed they are the childrens parents. A sixyearold girl who survived told investigators they were headed to stockton. A fiveyearold boy has some head injuries but is expected to recover. At about the same time this big rig wrecked on eastbound 580 in livermore it ended up puncturing its gas tank, and the chp it blocked lanes to clean up the mess. No one was hurt. An Investigation Underway into an officerinvolved shooting insan mateo. Police were called about a disturbance at laurie meadows drive and old county road. Officers say they opened fire on the suspect when he tried to run them over. 31yearold Kendall Hager of albany is facing several felony charges. He was wounded in the shooting but he is expected to survive. The officers were not hurt. And meanwhile three investigations are now underway into this months deadly sfpd shooting in the bay. Witness cell phone videos are being analyzed frame by frame, but what you see in the intense confrontation between the officers and the knifewielding mario woods depends on who you ask. That officer was preventing the suspect from escaping the scene and possibly endangering others that are out of view of the video. The idea that somehow he was charging, i dont see the video showing that. In fact, what we saw was that he was actually he had his hands down. Chief greg surr insists woods was raising his arms as he approached officers. He is now renewing his call to arm officers with tasers as a less lethal option. Mario woods family has filed a civil rights lawsuit. A cargo ship lost part of its load, and that load is washing up along the pacifica coastline. Two empty shipping containers were seen along rockaway beach. At least a dozen went into the water late friday nature as the ship ran into rough seas off the golden gate. It is possible the containers could be floating in the ocean if they landed at just the right angle.
