Reporter police allowed students back into the parking lot at Arapaho High School saturday to get their cars but they were not allowed inside the school to pick up their things. One day after an 18yearold student identified as karl piersen opened fire with a shotgun, critically wounding 17 yearold claire davis before taking his own life. Reporter investigators have viewed Surveillance Video from inside the school that shows piersen shot davis in the head before heading to the school library. They said he had a machete, shotgun, additional rounds of ammo strapped to his body, and three molotov cocktails. The video shows when he got to the library, he ignited one of the devices which started a fire. Thats when a sheriffs deputy assigned to the school arrived with other staff. Investigators say about a minute and 20 seconds after entering the school, piersen took his own life possibly because he was cornered. His intention was to use those multiple rounds to cause harm to a large number of individuals. Reporter police say piersen was targeting a librarian who had disciplined him after an incident involving the schools debate team in september. I just wish that he could have gotten some help rather than having to end his life like that. Reporter the sheriff read a statement from davis family that says she suffered severe head trauma. Even when it moves toward the end of next week, it will school down to the southeast, low pressure will approach offshore keeping the rainfall there but a southwest flow of air will cool us down.
