Traffic conditions on the Golden Gate Bridge theres a couple of cars making their way southbound out of marin county into San Francisco. A bay area man with multiple warrants out for his arrest has been stopped and let go three times in the past month alone. San francisco officers pulled over Stanislaus Petrov three times in the month of march for speeding and driving with a suspended license. Officers identified him based on the jail identification he was still wearing. Former prosecutor steven clark says the stops without an arrest set a very bad precedent. He should not be getting a free pass just because he may have been a victim of Police Brutality or had his civil rights violated. The times that he was pulled over petrov had at least three open warrants in Santa Clara County. A former stanford swimmer just found guilty of Sexual Assault, the victim an intoxicated woman he met at a frat party. The District Attorney was using this case as a platform to talk about Sexual Consent, hoping that the verdict sends a clear message that drunk means no, passed out means no. No cameras in the courtroom during the trial but it was an emotional moment when the verdict was read. Brock turner guilty on all counts including assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated woman. The former star left the courtroom without comment. Turn her claimed the young woman was conscious when they met at a frat Party Last Year and consented to sex. The prosecution argued the victims blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit and she was passed out for hours. In her closing argument, the prosecutor said turner was the face of campus Sexual Assault. We need to change the culture and its on all of us to do that. Today, a Santa Clara County jury gave a verdict which i hope will clearly reverberate throughout colleges, high schools and everywhere. Its a good thing. He did a horrible thing. Reporter turner is 20. He was not taken into custody. He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He is facing 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced on june 2. Live at stanford, kiet do, kpix 5. A plan to build housing for the homeless on a vacant lot at willow glen is not a popular one with the neighborhood there. Residents got a look at the plan during a meeting last night. San jose city housing and planning Officials Say the proposed housing on six acres of land in willow glen would consist of about 18 prefab units that could house 100 homeless. Potential residents would be subject to background checks. It doesnt make a difference in what state you are in this country; anytime you propose Something Like this, there are concerns. The meeting was the first of three before the issue goes before the city council. The city hopes to break ground by fall and finish the project by the spring or summer of 2017. Meanwhile, san jose mayor sam liccardo is working on a plan to help Homeless Veterans. The goal is for each of san joses 250 churches, mosques and synagogues to find housing for homeless vets with a housing voucher. Faith communities have a way of reaching homeless in a way government simply cant. Its going to take actually a miracle but yeah, we are in the miracle business so we think the cause is right. So far, more than a dozen religious organizations pledged to help. Right now, new yorks blockbuster broadway show hamilton the musical is coming to the bay area. And casting for all roles, as well. But when the casting call first came out, there was one standout requirement seeking nonwhite actors. Actors equity the Broadway Union says such language is not in line with its policies. After some union criticism, the casting call on the shows website was changed but the shows producers are committed to hiring a diverse cast. Kpix 5s emily turner tells us why some people though are still pleased reporter when it comes to drought relief, this years snowpack wasnt quite the field of dreams it was made out to be. Todays measurements put snow levels at about 5 below where they should be and far from where they need to be to fix four years of low or exceptionally low snowpack levels. Yeah, weve given up on this season. The likelihood of major storm activity is virtually nonexistent. And thats what it would take to have any dramatic impact. Reporter but there have been dramatic impacts on businesses. Three years of subpar snow left ski resorts and the economy surrounding them in a tight spot. This years snows have brought back the crowds they need. We dont have an exact closing date but traditionally were open until midapril. It looks like we could go beyond that this season. Reporter possibly making it sierra at tahoes longest season ever if the crowds stick around. Mount rose has already extended into may for its own record season and many resorts may follow suit.
