Well pinpoint your weekend forecast at 18 minutes after the hour but right now, lets send it over to roqui theus. Its 5 02. Thank you, roberta. A Traffic Alert in Scotts Valley. Maria will be live here later so she will give us the live pictures in more details but highway 17 is only one lane open in each direction right now. That means the northbound side is covered in mud. There was a mudslide out there and chp has both lanes in the southbound side so traffic is running in both directions on the southbound side. So traffic is moving along there but just expect delays if you are heading there. Now, um, lets move over to our other Traffic Alert here along the Altamont Pass. As you can see, traffic moving at just 6 Miles Per Hour so barely moving at all. Westbound 580 at greenville road, this is due to potholes in the area. Large potholes including the rebar showing so that means its going to take a while for chp to get this fixed and opened up for you. That backup is all the way to 205. Chp says there is no estimated time of reopening yet. Moving to the bridges, a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza heading into downtown San Francisco. Looking good but as you can see the rain is coming down. The roads are wet so drive safely and in marin county, good old highway 37, it is closed again between atherton avenue and highway 101. Chp is diverting the westbound side off at atherton avenue to give you a direct route to 101. Ill send it to you. All right, roqui. Thank you. The problems stemming from the latest round of rain stretched from the north bay down to the Santa Cruz Mountains. Tumbling hillsides, water and winds are major concerns. And we have Team Coverage with a look at all the damage so far. We start where crews are fixing those large potholes roqui mentioned. They could derail the commute for many east bay drivers. Kpix 5 reporter anne makovec is live in livermore with the latest on repairs along 580. Reporter kenny, it is only 5 a. M. And already, the traffic is crawling here along 580 because two of the westbound lanes are closed because of large potholes. At 3 a. M. There were people on the side of the road trying to change their tires because of potholes. The lanes will be closed until about 3 p. M. Traffic is slow at this time. So can you imagine how jammed up this is going to be at 7 00 . So definitely heads up. Anybody westbound 580 through livermore, we are just west of the Altamont Pass. Right now live in livermore, anne makevoc, kpix 5. This latest round of rain has caused a ticking time bomb in greenbrae. Mud and debris slid about halfway down the hill. This is on via la couple bay area. The mudslide is stuck now. When it gives way it could coat the road and slam into at least two homes nearby. A san rafael family is homeless after a massive mudslide ripped their home in two. You can see the roof sitting on the sidewalk there. Items from inside the home scattered all over the lawn. John says he and his family watched as the mudslide tore his home apart piece by piece. The deck blew out on the side. You cant see it. Then the chimney went. Firefighters grabbed some things before his home before regular tagging it. The home next to him has been tagged by the city of san rafael because mud is close to it also. Mudslides are causing problems in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This one is on highway 17 and it could cause some major delays. Kpix 5s med med live where crews are working around the clock. Kpix 5s maria medina is live where crews are working around the clock. Reporter the northbound lanes are closed at this hour but the southbound lanes are open to traffic in both directions. Thats the good news. The bad news, we passed by the big mudslide a few minutes ago and its completely covering the northbound lanes. Now, the slide sent an suv airborne yesterday morning when it came down. That driver is expected to be okay. But we are talking about 20 feet of mud and rock that covered highway 17 on the northbound lanes. And at one point it shut down that major route from san jose to santa cruz for about 5 hours yesterday. This is the biggest one definitely theres quit a bit more earth. Its like half the mountainside came down into the road. So its a bigger is just slide. Reporter all right. So again county crews are trying to clean up that massive mudslide but there are several mudslides across the county so they are stretched so thin that they are bringing contractors in to help them so again, this morning the northbound lanes on highway 17 remain closed. But the southbound lanes here on highway 17 are open to traffic in both directions here on vine hill road. For now, were live in santa cruz county, maria medina, kpix 5. Meanwhile, crews are rushing to fix a big hole in one of the largest dams. Locals filmed this scene as water burst from the oroville dam spillway pushing concrete blocks 40 feet into the air.
