Take a look at that almost as high as the building next to it this is on new montgomery street near mission street. It happened just before 2 00 this afternoon. Firefighters were getting drenched as they worked to shut off the water. The efforts created cheers from the crowds once they got it under control. A water main burst in the middle of the night. Millions of gallons of water flooded streets and homes in a San Francisco neighborhood. Nearly a dozen families left to clean up the mess. I mean, you would think were you in yosemite. Reporter it was a rude awaken for about a dozen homeowners whose basements, yards and garages flooded up to three feet. Ringle the bell and we saw like a river in the street. Reporter it all started with a break in a 12 water main at key avenue and keith street. One of the staff that watches the system saw we were losing water out of one of our reservoirs. Reporter by the time crews arrived dug up the pipe and shut the water off a torrent of water was releaseed. Can approximate it as a few million gallons at this point. I woke up to water rushing and my car being right in the middle of it. Reporter the water pressure tore off part of her bumper. It was already loose there. So the water rushing just kind of pushed the bumper out. Reporter the broken main dates back to 1953, part of an aging infrastructure system all over San Francisco. Public entities need to stay on top of things. They need to make sure that they are taking care of their maintenance just like we take care of our homes. Reporter the Williams Sonoma brand began back in 1956 when a guy named Chuck Williams began selling hardtofind french cookware from his Hardware Store in sonoma. It wasnt long before culinary masters like julia child and james beard began calling. They were very instrumental in convincing him to move to San Francisco. Reporter they told him hey you have to move closer to us . Basically, that was it. Reporter so in 1958, williams packed up and moved. And sonoma hasnt had a williamssonoma store since. That is until now. The new store is buzzing with activity as people rush to open in time to celebrate williams99th birthday. But really its not new at all because this store is located in the original building where it all began. I really do hope store means a lot to the community. I see this as a place where the community can gather. Reporter theres a kitchen that will serve as a cooking school. Out back a patio with a Wood Fired Pizza oven. They have revived the vegetable garden that williams and his mother planted in their backyard. And inside, the old house is fully furnished showcasing the companys new home decor line. On the consumerwatch, julie watts on why the puc is now investigating comcast. I pay for a service. I want my service. Reporter back in 2012, kim jason was furious when comcast accidentally published her unlisted phone number and address. Im paying for a nonlisted phone number. Reporter but what was an inconvenience for her has become dangerous for others. Comcast now admits between july of 2010 and december of 2012, it wrongfully listed 74,000 unlisted phone numbers. Half of all its unlisted california customers. Here in california we have a constitutional right to privacy. Reporter in terms mindy says thats something comcast has violated. She has been attending the puc hearings which will determine if comcast should be sanctioned for publishing the numbers. A puc investigation found some customers had Domestic Violence concerns around other personal safety issues. Another complaint, i testified in a murder trial. Now my wifes children and i are all in danger. Comcast did not take the customers right to privacy seriously enough. Reporter she questions whatcom cast knew and when. Comcast claims it first uncovered account issue in october of 2012 and waited until january of 2013 to report it to the puc. A year earlier our sister station in sacramento reported on kims case. It was incumbent on comcast as soon as they found out the breaches to do something about it not to treat them as isolated incidents. Reporter comcast says, after it discovered the issue it notified and credited customers offered refunds and took steps to prevent it from happening again. As to why the breach continued for nearly a year after it knew about kims case . Comcast would only say, hers was, quote, not the same. Reporter the puc hearings ended today but the investigation is ongoing. It could be months before regulators decide whether or not to sanction comcast.
