Lindsey combs was killed yesterday when the trucks trailer toppled on her car as she backed out of her driveway. Kpix 5s Ann Notarangelo talked to combs neighbors and coworkers today. Ann. Reporter elizabeth, cal osha right now is conducting an investigation into the contractor who was involved in this accident. Martinez police are handling the investigation into just how lindsey combs was killed. Today the reality set in, and, um, you realize that youve youve lost a good friend. Reporter 32yearold lindsey combs loved two things, her family especially her daughter lyric, and being a hairstylist. Today her boss at sport clips in Pleasant Hill closed up shop telling us people need a die grieve. Huge following, lots of regular clients that came in just for lindsey. Great person to have around. Reporter exactly what happened yesterday afternoon is still under investigation. But as lindsey was pulling out of her martinez driveway under the direction of a construction worker, a trailer ready to unload 20 tons of gravel crushed her car and killed her. Authorities still have no idea what brought down a plane in the french alps. All 150 people on board were killed. A hiker declared missing on mount tam overnight was actually evading police and rescuers. The 293rdyearold had the 23yearold had outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was one of two hikers crews started looking for at 2 30 a. M. Authorities used helicopters and ground searchers until she appeared around 11 a. M. She found her way back to the car after sleeping on the trail. Thats when authorities took her into custody for misdemeanor charges. The Santa Clara Valley Water District board meets tonight. It is proposing some of the most aggressive conservation measures in the bay area. The district wants to reduce water use by 30 . It also wants to limit lawn watering 280 days a week. The reason were looking watering to two days a week. The reason were looking at restricting water use is because the ground water levels in Santa Clara County dropped significantly in 2014. And we cant continue that. We cant continue to draw on the ground water so much that the water levels continue to drop. Its going to be up to local water providers to develop contingency plans to reach any goals that are adopted tonight. Alameda county supervisors have given the okay to additional Wind Turbines on the altamont. The Company Called Altamont Winds wants to spend the next three years building more turbines. Reporter at 38yearold old cancer wasnt on her mind until she heard about Angelina Jolies preventative double mastectomy last year and received a call from her doctor saying it had been three years since her last checkup. She did a few tests and discovered this. I had an 87 risk for Breast Cancer and a 47 risk to develop Ovarian Cancer in my lifetime. Reporter lewis has three family members who had cancer so she knew she had to take action. It was scary because it wasnt if ill get it. It was when am i going to get it . And i had two little kids and a husband and i just thought, i got get rid of this ricks. Its not a choice. I had to get rid of this choice. Reporter Angelina Jolie revealed her choice to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to prevent cancer. She had a number of inflammatory markers that were elevated a possible sign of early cancer. Like jolie, lewis believed it was a greater risk to not be proactive. She had a double mastectomy with the same surgeon as jolie and had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. To check yourself into a hospital and have them remove something that at the moment is perfectly healthy is a really hard decision. Reporter it was a difficult time for lewis and her family. But she isnt looking back. It was tough. It was really tough. But i can say one thing that went away the minute i was rolled out of the emergency room is the stress of when am i going to get cancer . Reporter instead, lewis can think about her family and their future together because doctors say her chances of getting cancer now is less than 5 . In oakland, lisa chan, kpix 5. The gender discrimination trial against a Silicon Valley Venture Capital firm, ellen pao is suing Kleiner Perkins for 16 million. In a standing room only courtroom, her attorney said today that the firm broke the law. They described a maledominated culture at the company and that paos managers retaliated against her. The Police Department released this photo of it wandering around a neighborhood. Police searched the area where it was spotted which was near an Elementary School and high school. So far, it hasnt been seen since 2 00 this morning. You can imagine bears are not commonly seen in tracy. One of the driest towns in the state just got a special delivery. Students from Porterville College in the San Joaquin Valley organized a water drive. They delivered 40 cases of water to an Elementary School across town where some students cannot shower, they show up with dirty clothes. The schools principal says at least a dozen students have been struggling in homes with no water at all. Its very hard to concentrate on learning what they need to learn when they are concerned about water. Porterville college is planning another water drive in a couple of weeks. State is getting desperate. We are not there yet in the bay area, but its getting dire for sure. There was just a drive to get water into peoples houses in the state of california.
