The family will make a brief statement tomorrow thanking the public for their overwhelming support during this awful ordeal and he told me a few details about the murder that we hadnt heard before now. There had been a sleepover, a neighborhood sleepover, with children staying at the house. The mother went to bed around midnight and teenagers still up until around 2 a. M. Sometime after that the family believes one of the guests William Schultz, sneaked into jordans room and stabbed him to death while he lay sleeping. And that it was jordans own mother who discovered his bloody body early the next morning. So prosecutors today in the courtroom said they were going to three throw the book at him. After laying out the charges against 18yearold William Schultz the prosecutors decided no Death Penalty for the suspected murderer of 9year old jordan almgren. He is charged right now with special circumstance, he is on notice at this point in time we are not pursuing this as a death case. Reporter we learned monday that his family had referred him to sheriff officials for a psychological evaluation the day before the murder. But neither a sheriffs deputy nor a doctor thought he was a danger to the community or to himself so he got out of the hospital within hours. Theres no question that Mental Illness was behind this. Family tried desperately to get help for their son who was exhibiting symptoms and signs of Mental Illness, yes, they tried very hard in the weeks and months leading up to this event.
