Open space officials in marin are investigating a strange case of vigilante justice. Kpix 5s john ramos shows us it involves a rogue landscaper armed with a weed wacker. Reporter the grass around the marin county Government Center<\/a> is trimmed low. But the grass at this county owned open space at pacheco valley is allowed to grow wild. The cool thing about open space preserves is that they are preserving, you know, Wildlife Habitat<\/a> right next to peoples homes. Reporter but its not so cool to the neighbors who live nearby. They purchased the land last year and gave it to the county open space district to keep it from being developed. But many were upset when the district refused to mow the grassland turning this space into a critical fire area. So a few days ago someone took the matter and a weed whacker into his own hands and cleared a 40footwide swath of the high grass. I can understand it because theres been a lot of controversy. Reporter frank is with the Homeowners Association<\/a> here. He says chopping the grass was wrong and could have started a fire itself. But its probably an indication of the frustration residents feel about the districts. Their policy is in [ indiscernible ] cast in concrete and thats the way its going to be. Reporter but neighbors got a letter from county Officials Say<\/a> they can have the land back if they can find another entity who will manage it with a different open space policy. For example, the city of novato owns the property right across the street and keeps that grass mowed. At this point no one knows if the city would agree to that but as for the county, theres still the vigilante weed whacker. We are going to follow up and investigate it and hopefully we can find that person. Reporter but that may not be easy. Its hard to find a snake in the grass when the grass is this tall. In marin county, john ramos, kpix 5. Despite some homeowners concerns at least two local fire chiefs have determined that high grass does not pose any danger to the homes in that area. The water is warm even when the wind comes from the ocean when it most often does it hasnt been chilly or as chilly this summer and we just set a record that we have never done before in modern history. Case in point today, we have that breeze coming off the ocean but we had a high near 70 in San Francisco<\/a>. Its still currently 65. Livermore 74, oakland 72, san bruno 68 degrees. Cooler inland but near the water the temperature difference is not great because we have water running five to seven degrees warmer than average. Breezy day at Travis Air Force<\/a> base in fairfield. Southwest winds 26 Miles Per Hour<\/a>. We are sustained at 20 Miles Per Hour<\/a> in napa and west wind at 20 Miles Per Hour<\/a> both in the city of San Francisco<\/a> and San Francisco<\/a> international airport. Tonight a few 50s santa rosa down to 54. Mountain view 58. Vallejo 58. But still 60 in fremont and theres your 60 degrees again in San Francisco<\/a>. So why is it breezy, why is it cooler, why is it cloudier . All because of an area of low pressure to the north. It will stay there for the next couple of days. As it stays to the north and we keep the onshore flow cranking it will be cool and breezy through saturday. So we are breezy through the evening tonight and overnight. Low cloud cover spilling back into the bay and also pushing inland. Tomorrow, another day which will be windy another day will be cool. Temperatures will rebound a bit coming up this weekend. But the Holiday Weekend<\/a> wont be above average until monday which is labor day of course. The highs tomorrow generally in the 70s. San jose 75. Concord 79. San rafael 75 degrees. Napa 78. So from you near the water we are close to where we should be. If you are inland we are going to be 10 degrees cooler than average. Extended forecast, the coolest day will likely be friday with highs staying in the 70s everywhere throughout the bay area. Only the low 60s along the coast. A little bit of change on saturday, bigger change on sunday. By labor day we are back to the mid to upper 80s and 70s at the bay and a cool pattern in the bay area for the next three to four days.
