It will open tomorrow or friday. Crews are still busy putting everything together and it has room for 150 people. The city plans to keep that facility open through the end of march. Protests like this one were seeing right now just one part of the big security operation surrounding the super bowl with a particular focus on potential terrorists. Kpix 5 reporter phil matier is inside super bowl city and phil, you spoke with the secretary of Homeland Security today. Reporter thats right. And you know, its interesting. The way they make it sound, super bowl could become security bowl if the plans go as laid out. Heres as to therry. It was a whos who of national, state and local security brass that turned out in force today to outline whats likely to be the biggest Homeland Security operation this side of the olympics. The planning that goes into this is Something Like two years. From as far south as monterey, as far north as sonoma county, through napa into sacramento, youre dealing with probably seven to ten counties. Reporter how many agencies are we talking about . Just to start off, it has to be at least just on the Law Enforcement side, there has to be at least 25 agencies. Tsa, cbp, i. C. E. , the coast guard, the secret service, fema, our intelligence and analysis directorate and our National Protections and programs directorate, increased maritime security, and helicopter patrols by the coast guard, on site intelligence support, tremendous visible uniform presence that will remain but theres so much work being done behind the scenes. Reporter how many chp are we bringing in from around the state for this . Well, im not going to give you exact numbers because we are involved in some of the security, but we have several hundred officers not only from the bay area but from surrounding areas coming in. We have challenges with the distance between levis stadium and super bowl city. San francisco is a city of tolerance and its, you know, we we dont keep people from protesting. Crowds can start to gather and can create problems. Reporter but there was good news. At this time, we know of no specific credible threat directed at super bowl 50 or related events. Reporter but exactly what does that mean . No credible threat at this point . Were going to get live with our former fbi agent and security analyst jeff harp and bore down on the question of what is a credible threat and what about the loan wolf that could stalk the super bowl. And as we have seen all day long and this week as well super bowl security beefing up on land, water and now right there in the air over the bay area. Today the u. S. Air force ran inflight intercept drills. Heres how this works. If a noncommercial aircraft flies into the restricted airspace above the bay area, you are targeted the interceptor plane will come look for you. It will confront it using radio communication. It will leave that unauthorized aircraft lead that unauthorized aircraft to the nearest landing space. Another tv crew is robbed in San Francisco. A photographer from our chicago sister station wbbm had its camera, laptop and other equipment taken by two men claiming to have a gun. It happened at polk and lombard around 9 p. M. Last night. The photographer gave up his equipment and was not hurt. The denver bronco who was caught up in a bay area prostitution sting has been sent packing. Tonight, were hearing from his coach. Now, this is where investigators found ryan murphy last night and this comes just days after coach kubiak told his players to be accountable for their actions off the field before sundays big game. Reporter coach kubiak wasted no time sending ryan murphy home yesterday after investigators say they caught him with a group involved in prostitution at the san jose mow health. Ryan murphy was there with associates that were involved in the criminal activities. Reporter although deputies never cited murphy, sources say they did cite someone he knew for solicitation of it prostitution. The Human TraffickingTask Force Says the business of selling sex is up in the weeks and days leading up to the super bowl. Faculty was made aware of the situation and alerted police. Gonzalez is charged with annoying or molesting a child under 18. Former Oakland Raiders quarterback ken stabler has a brain disease cte. The disease cannot be diagnosed until after death. Its linked to brain trauma. Stabler died in july from colon cancer. His brain was then autopsied. Researchers at Boston University said he had stage 3cte. Its been found in the brains of several former Football Players and has ignited a debate about on field safety and concussion. Stabler was 69. A lot of the businesses near levis stadium thought the super bowl would give their business a boost but, rather, its really been a traffic headache and for them a financial hardship. Its been slow. Reporter its an ironry in the life of the shad i do of the stadium. The owner of this restaurant expected to be book in business but instead empty chairs and tables have outnumbered customers in the week before super bowl. We are kind of waiting on the super bowl and like, you know, waiting for all the people in the crowd and its kind of super dead so its like the opposite of what we would have thought. Reporter taking a big bite out of the restaurants business is the week long closure of tasman drive, which people who live and work in the area say has made navigating the neighborhoods near the stadium a nightmare. Nothing is happening and they are just closing it just closing it for the week, thats inconvenient. They could have done it tonight or thursday. Reporter but while some feel inconvenienced, others are mostly excited to have the super bowl in their backyard. Im enjoying im enjoying t the super bowl is here and i think people are enjoying just being around all this. Its exciting. Reporter local businesses hope they wont be completely overshadowed by the big game or lose out on customers who steer clear of the area altogether. We heard from kpix 5s emily turner right at the top of the hour. This protest in San Francisco still causing a traffic mess in the south of market area. Well go to my first map now. Its northbound embarcadero which is shut down because of the protestor active. A Massive Police presence, as well. And all of this is causing major delays northbound embarcadero and gridlock from bryant street approaching mission. We have had southbound embarcadero shut down for weeks and it remains closed as part of the super bowl city setup. Southbound traffic approaching the embarcadero is also very heavy at this hour. We are seeing lighter traffic in San Francisco. Looks like the main rush of San Francisco drivers leaving the city was around 3 00 this afternoon. And in the sillicon valley, just outside San Francisco levis stadium, remember tasman drive is closed just outside the stadium between the Convention Center and and another road. Thats your commute.
