Reporter were in downtown orlando about five miles away from the nightclub and on any given corner youll signs of support like this. It reads orlando strong and theres flowers and candles. It impressed us so deeply. He was all by himself. I just had to hug him. [ crying ] we dont know whats going to happen. We go to the gas station we dont know whats going to happen. Were not safe. Were gay. Who is going to kill us . Were not safe at all. Reporter we have been learning more about omar mateen from people who worked at the pulse nightclub people saying they in fact did see him there. In fact one person did a phone interview with us telling us that he would see him there every tuesday night. He was quiet. He stood at the bar and they never suspected he would do such a thing. When we first saw him there, me and a Security Guard that used to work at pulse, um, we said hello and everything and he was very friendly and all that. But yes, he has frequently been to that bar and its been going on three years. He didnt seem like this the kind of guy that just did what he did. Reporter as we have been reporting, omar mateen did have ties to the bay area. In fact, his wife and her family live in Contra Costa County in rodeo and for more on that part of the story were joined live by emily turner in rodeo. Reporter juliette, all day we have been going down a laundry list of names of family members in this area of the bay who are related to noor and unfortunately no one is locked to us. Doors are locked, curtains pulled and the one person who was home when i asked if you are related said i dont want to begin to talk about that. This is all we have seen of omar mateens wife since the shooting in orlando hiding under a hoodie and leaving a home where they and their son lived together. She may face criminal charges. She is one of three daughters and the neighbor never expected her to be part of this. Everybody is [ indiscernible ] reporter and today sources say noor salman admitted to investigators she knew about the attack and tried to convince her husband not to do it. She never called police. Fbi interrogated her twice and been polygraphed but they wont say whether or not she is being cooperative. Shes nic she is very nice. Yeah. Reporter she grew up in the bay area and attended John Swett High School according to neighbors. She still has family including her mother in rodeo. No one has been home the last few days but neighbors say noor hasnt been home in more than a year either. I dont think he allowed her to come home and visit her mother after they have married. Im not sure why. He didnt allow her to do it. Reporter this is not noors first marriage. She was married here in, um, in Contra Costa County several years ago. That ended in 2009. Thats when ultimately she moved back here and then has since left the bay area. Obviously now in florida. She graduated from Heald College which closed out here in concord. Emily turner, kpix 5. Emily, thank you. You know, so many questions about mateen and his involvement an as the fbi investigates, we were able to track down someone with the orlando county sheriffs department. He was formerly on the fbi task force. He says it is clear that mateen was acting methodically. This is not mental illness. And he said if his wife had any involvement, under federal law she could face serious charges. He was methodically planning this attack whether he is gay or not gay, whether he is an isis sympathizer or not, the guy was methodical and he had a very good plan. Reporter does his current wife bear responsibility . If his current wife this knowledge of the attack if the government can prove she was part of the master plan of driving him here for quote, unquote casing the place, she absolutely should be charged under every charge that she can be charged with. Reporter heres another part to this story. A sacramento preacher is being condemned for his comments in the wake of this killing spree. In fact, during his sunday sermon, Roger Jimenez praised attack saying, quote, orlando is a little safer tonight. Then he took it further. I wish the government would round them all up, put them up against a firing wall, put a firing squad in front of of them and blow their brains out reporter jimenezs sermon was condemned by the sacramento mayor, saying it doesnt reflect christian values. It was taken off youtube. I can tell you since sunday night the sentiment here is about caring and healing and uniting and in orlando, i can tell you the majority here are not ma. They are sad. We have hear more at 6 00. Thank you. Were following breaking news out of san jose right now. Chopper 5 is live over a crash involving a Police Motorcycle officer. This is near tenth and horning streets. Sources telling kpix 5 a citizen performed cpr on the officer at the scene. He was then rushed to a hospital. We are being told that officer is now in critical condition. We have a crew heading to the scene right now. One of the things the well be checking is what led up to this collision. Also today, president obama delivered a scathing speech in response to Donald Trumps accusations that he, the president , is not tough enough in fighting terrorist groups. San francisco supervisor scott weiner is introducing legislation that would allow gay and bisexual men to donate blood. Many in floridas Gay Community rushed to donate blood after the nightclub shooting. But many gay and bisexual men cannot give blood. Currently, the fda requires that they abstain from sex for at least a year in order to donate. Its an irrational discriminatory and, um, unscientific, um, piece of public policy, um, and the ban needs to be changed. And it needs to apply to both gays and straights for a much shorter period of time than one year. Other news around the bay area. An Antioch Police officer was hurt when a driver rearended his motorcycle. It happened at west tregallas road and bautista street. The officer was about to make a traffic stop when a vehicle hit him from behind. The officer had minor injuries. The other driver did stay on scene. Police are investigating a deadly shooting in San Francisco. It happened around 4 00 this morning in the Mission District near shotwell and 20th streets.
