Kpix 5s devin fehely on the big concern as crews reached the stranded hiker. Reporter firefighters say the 85yearold hiker had fallen 40 to 50 feet down the steep hillside and gotten stuck. She kind of slid down, 85 yearold woman, and had broken her leg and wasnt able to get out of the off the slope that she had fallen into. Reporter nearly 20 firefighters in all took part in the rescue. They had to go up the winding trail and lower themselves down to the woman. We were able to get the first paramedic down to the patient in 2 to 3 minutes after they got to the scene the trail site. And he was able to assets patient. Reporter firefighters first job was to make sure the woman didnt slip, slide or tumble further down the hill. They eventually pulled her to safety. The Fire Department tweeting out these pictures as they carried her down the trail to a waiting ambulance. She was talking with us. She knew what was going on. She was aware of the situation.
