A developing story in fremont, we are learning more details about a Fatal Police Shooting last night. It happened near a seven 11 at ducaughto road and fremont boulevard. Reporter within the last hour Fremont Police held a News Conference about the only thing they would confirm is the suspect fired upon the officers before the officers returned fire, killing him. Beyond that they had little to say, citing on going investigation in the very early stages. It began at this seven 11, a witness flagged down an officer report agfight between two men inside the store, one flashing a gun. The parks officer approached a parked car with several people inside and called fremont pd for back up. The officer asked for expedited cover, which basically means get there now. Reporter when fremont officers arrived, a suspect bolted across the street to an alley behind the wal greens, Luis Hernandez heard police searching. They kept asking the subject to come out and he wouldnt respond. Reporter officers say they found the man hiding on top of a uhaul truck and first did respond to commands. Sure enough a individual then stands up from the top of the uhaul truck and puts his hands up. Reporter a lawyer who represents the officer says the man then dropped down again out of sight. When he reappeared, he had something in his hands. Two of the officers saw a muzzle flashes from a gun and heard the sound of gunfire. Two officers returned fire. I heard the gunshots popped off, bam, bam, and that was it. Reporter a suspect was shot and killed by the officer, the third fatal officer involved shooting this year in premont. The officer said the officers tried to arrest the suspect peacefully. Instead off that, they have an individual here who comes up with a gun in his hand and is trying to kill the police officers. That is what is happening in fremont. Reporter so far the yoit of the suspect identity of the suspect has the not been released. A source close to the investigation confirmed one of the officerinize volved was also officers involved was also the subject of a shooting that happened in june here in fremont, the officer was wounded, back on duty, and involved in the incident this morning.
