Proabortion city. But theres a big prolife community in and around San Francisco. And they are going to be getting more vocal as time goes on. This was on a public street. Is there any indication there was a crime committed . Reporter no. They got in, they got out, they blocked the street. But they did it real fast and you know, like it or not, its called the first amendment. By the way, at 6 00, we are going to ask the mayor and get his opinion on it, as well. So stay tuned. Back to you. Thank you. Our other big story tonight, President Trump says he will ban transgender people from serving in any capacity in the u. S. Armed forces. He made the announcement this morning on twitter after what he called a consultation with generals and military experts. These are not exact numbers. But a rand study finds that there are between 1300 and about 6600 Transgender Service members in the active duty military. In the reserves, between 800 and 4200 members. Thats out of a total of 1. 3 million service members. Take some policy is going to be something that the white house and the department of defense have to Work Together to lawfully determine and, you know, i would imagine the department of defense will be the lead on that. Its not clear whether current Transgender Service members would have to be discharged or whether the ban applies only to new recruits coming in. Meantime, bay area democrats have blasted the ban. The cowardly act, the way he did it and especially what he did, on this day to unleash a vile hateful agenda that will blind side thousands of patriotic americans already serving with honor and bravery. President trumps ban reverses an Obama Administration decision to allow transgender people to serve openly. It was set to take effect this year. Um, to say the outrageous things why he was doing it makes no sense. Reporter since october, transgender military members have been able to receive medical care and officially change their gender identification in the personnel system. Now they wont even be allowed in the military at all. Those who are already, experts say, are wondering what their future looks like. That means that its time for a purge. There are thousands of transgender troops serving loyally and honorably and they have been serving all year. And the president declared open season on them today. This is a witch hunt. Reporter aaron belkin is with the palm center that studies sexual minorities in the in the military. He says that President Trumps statement that they disrupt service and medical information is too expensive is based on bogus information as he says the white houses claim this is a move the military wanted. This ban is dont ask dont tell 2. 0 and it is a shocking attack on loyally serving american troops. This is not about the military. The military did a year of study and concluded that it works. Reporter even local republicans are speaking out against the ban. Doesnt matter if you wear a moustache or a dress. If you are willing to put your life on the line for this country and you can serve and you can do the job well, then thats all that needs to that matters. Reporter there are people, however, who are in favor of this ban. We have a statement here from tony perkins the president of the conservative Family Research counsel simple. But as you can imagine, here in the bay area, we could not find any local people who were willing to go on camera to support this ban. Well be here live at 6 00 when this protest starts.
