He says when the nfl is cutting a deal with city leaders to build a new stadium, they give politicians these luxury suites as a way to sweeten the pot. It looks more like a bribe and less like a perk. Reporter noll says this quid pro quo is how most stadiums get built all across the country but at least one city, san diego, decided to make some changes and tightened up the policy at Qualcomm Stadium to keep a single politician from hogging the tickets all to himself. But for noll san diegos tweak didnt go far enough. And this game of political handouts needs entirely new rules. What the local government should do is just sell the tickets. M. For a rally. He made more than a dozen stops over the past two weeks up and down the state of california barnstorming it. By comparison, Hillary Clinton has made only a few stops around the state. She has made stops in San Francisco, san jose, oakland. Sanders, on the other hand, has made multiple stops in the bay area from San Francisco to san jose to several in the east bay. Hes also held rallies in the central valley, north bay and farther north to chico. It appears to have paid off in donations. The Sanders Campaign raised 36 million in california alone. As you can see, the crowd here tonight in cloverdale out here in Sonoma County getting ready for tonights rally. And they have been out here for hours. The polls show that sanders has closed the gap somewhat with clinton in california. A field poll shows that they are in a statistical dead heat. The Clinton Campaign offered us an interview with longtime clinton supporter john podesta and our phil matier asked him why isnt Hillary Clinton going to the smaller california towns like Bernie Sanders has been doing . Kpix 5 reporter da lin shows us what happened when a situation that escalated after the suspect fell through a skylight. Reporter he crashed through the skylight trying to get away from Police Officers. Police say this guy was not about to give up. In fact, they say he fought and bit the Police Officers who were trying to arrest him. Before the flashbang grenades and the shooting of a beanbag round at the suspect, it was fairly calm. Negotiators tried for five hours to get a suspected burglar to surrender. It started with a 911 call about the burglar inside an apartment in chinatown. Police stormed in and successfully rescued the man who lives in the apartment. Officers confronted the suspect, who ran away from the officers into a new room and barricaded himself inside there. Reporter police say the suspected burglar holed up in the room for several hours. At one point, he fired off a shot. Around 2 30, police say the suspect jumped through a skylight. Thats when he ran out of the complex and into a next door hair salon. An officer fired a beanbag at the man. But he kept going. The officer then tackled the suspect on to the floor. Frightened workers prann out as police wrestled with the suspect. He violently fought with officers. He was covered in glass and resisting by biting and spitting at officers. Reporter Police Say Six officers have cuts and other injuries to their arms and legs. Officers were slashed by the glass and there was blood on blood contact between the suspect blood panned officer blood. Reporter police say the suspect seen here cuffed to a stretcher was hurt but will be okay. Paramedics took the officers to a nearby hospital for testing. They are concerned about that bloodtoblood contact with the suspect. Live in San Francisco, im da lin, kpix 5. One of two Police Officers shot in a fiery standoff in fremont is improving. The other officer is still in critical condition. They were shot in what started out as a routine traffic stop. But it turned into a battle that ended with a house burning to the ground and the shooting suspect dying inside. Kpix 5s maria medina is in fremont right now where she spoke to neighbors who got caught in the middle of the madness. Maria. Reporter well, thats what is left of the home. Now take a look over there. Thats where melissa lives. She says the only way she could find out what was going on right outside her home was through the news. The whole time youre thinking, could my home be next . Yes. Yes. The whole time. It was terrifying. Reporter for hours, Melissa Hersch berger her daughter and baby granddaughter stayed on the floor of a locked room in her home. It was like gunfire going off like a war zone. And it was terrifying. I didnt know if he was going to try to break in our house. Nobody knew where he was at that time. Reporter and for a few minutes, she believed she may come face to face with a man who just shot two officers gerald villabrille, when she heard her fence being torn down. I heard the crashing. Reporter it was the s. W. A. T. Team in the backyard that broke another fence to get to the home where villabrille barricaded himself. That was terrifying when the house caught on fire. I saw the flames immediately after when it caught on fire. Reporter the home set on fire by tear gas used by police to try and coaxed him out. Its now a spectacle in the town. I checked the house off. Reporter he saw it on the news and like so many, came bay to see where villabrille would later be found dead. It saves the taxpayers money. Thats the truth. He had no regard to anybody elses life. They broke the gate down here. Reporter melissa, who heard those gunshots that hit an officer, now left like so many to recover from a criminals Violent Crime spree. The fact that he was just willing to shoot two Police Officers, if he would do that, he will shoot anybody. He was completely out of his mind. He had been scheduled for arraignment on five felony charges of assaulting a mentally disabled woman. Instead, stubblefields attorneys asked the judge to recuse himself arguing that he should have a fair trial in front of a jury of his peers.
