Reporter for each off of the street a new one appears because the city has services that make it easier to live on the street. Places like glide memorial serving three meals a day. But what the city does not have is enough shelter beds at night. I believe that safe and well managed Public Housing is one of the most important tools in any homelessness. Reporter the mayor ed lee is talking about permanent housing with Supportive Services that has been the citys focus instead of emergency housing. We made progress even as we struggle through one of the worst recessions in a generation. Reporter the mayor toured a new housing project. Many people are helped thousands of others are still left out in the cold. More than half of the holeless People Living in San Francisco live on the streets. People who are sick and effected by homelessness and drug dependence or mental illness, disability, we retain 95 of the people that move in. We need more of that housing.
