But you can see that finger of fog thats surging in off the coast and wrapping around the rim of the bay right now. Temperaturewise we are in the 40s in santa rosa with clear skies. Right now in San Francisco, an investigation is under way at Civic Center Plaza after a man was shot and killed this morning. Kpix 5s jackie ward is live in San Francisco with the details. Reporter we dont have much information but what police have confirmed for us is that a man in his 20s is dead after being shot sometime around 3 a. M. We spoke to a man who knew the victim. He says the victims name was christian and he was homeless. He frequented the area of Civic Center Plaza at night. His friend says he was trying to find a way to support his family. I heard the gunshot and then everybody jumped and then i was standing off into that direction already like i seen a friend kind of walking up out of that direction and, um, i heard the pop and everybody, like, kind of hit the ground and then i seen him. Reporter again, all we know is that this man was in his 20s and that he died after being shot. A lot of the people who knew him apparently are still on the scene here where his body was found. Investigators tell us that they have a lot of good leads right now a lot of information about who this shooter may be but they are not releasing details. In San Francisco, jackie ward, kpix 5. Right now investigators are on the scene of a deadly shooting in san jose. Were told one of the victims was shot by a police officer. It happened outside a home on laura valle lane. Anne makovec is live with the latest. Reporter three people died here last night and investigators are still on the scene nine hours after the shooting. They got the call at 9 p. M. The people had heard shots being fired in this area. And when they got here, they found two people had been shot and killed. They then got into a standoff with the man that they believe was the shooter in this case. And they ended up shooting and killing him. So a lot of drama here when it comes to three people dying here on this street. The people who live around here, this is the willow glen neighborhood and nice neighborhood in san jose. They were sheltering in place for several hours last night and you can see laura valle behind me is still closed off. No danger to the public this morning. But the investigation into the original two killings and then the officerinvolved shooting are ongoing. The San Jose Police department and the Santa Clara CountyDistrict Attorneys Office are investigating. The officer who fired the shot is on paid administrative leave. Live in san jose, anne makovec, kpix 5. A man accused of killing a Hayward Police officer will face a judge this morning. Mark estrada faces murder charges and pled not guilty. Sergeant scott lunger was shot and killed three years ago a 15 year veteran of the police department. Estrada opened fire for no reason, also exchanged gunfire with lungers partner. He drove away and abandoned his truck in east oakland and showed up at a hospital with gunshot wounds. During todays preliminary hearing, a judge will determine whether there is enough evidence to require a trial. Today a vote is expected in the house on the latest version of the republican plan to repeal and replace obamacare. Key gop leaders expressed confidence the measure has at least 216 yes votes to pass. Possibly setting the stage for President Trumps first legislative victory. Already debated a large portion of this. Finish off the rest of the debate and well take a vote. But House Democrats blasted the decision to vote on the bill without a new score from the cbo. Reporter this station here is 47 years old so youre gonna see some cracked pavement and sidewalks. Its definitely needing some tlc. The bart Officials Say its in need of some major upgrades. Crews will start working on this station in midmay and if you are looking at the renderings now, the blue section is what they will be working on essentially they are redesigning the layout so traffic can flow in and out of the station. Crews will be working on the dropoff area, they will be putting in new pavement, more parking for motorcycles and they will also be adding more parking for 88 compliant vehicles. Due to the change in layout the station will lose about 24 fee Parking Spaces. Here at 3 p. M. Its full. So its yeah. Its very crowded. But getting in and out isnt a problem. Reporter plus, bart Officials Say the upgrades will include rain gardens and that will capture some storm runoff. So what do you need to know if you actually go to this station in the morning . Well, the two parking places next to the entrance here, deer hill road, those lots will have some staggered closures for the next eight months because thats how long it will take crews to perform the major upgrades. We are actually going to start with the mass transit. For just a moment, we are dealing with some closure, Oakland Airport connector is closed out of service so if you transit bus number 73 thats what youll need to use if you are making your way between Oakland Coliseum station and to the Oakland Airport. The rest of your mass transit running on time. We have 50 bart trains in service right now. But this weekend there is a track closure along bart and that is going to slow things down. This is all happening between fruitvale and lake merritt stations. The closure will be in effect saturday and sunday. And you can expect up to 40 minute delays. So bart advises you to plan accordingly. They will have a bus bridge in place for folks who need to make their way between the two stations. Well take it over to our san jose map and you can see traffic definitely starting to get a little slow along 101 if you are making your way from 680 on up towards 880 there. It makes an intrusion a little bit further to the east and thats when the cooler air mass settles in. Your friday will be partly sunny at the coast. Meanwhile on saturday we start off with partly cloudy skies. We turn mostly cloudy and computer models suggest a slight chance of a light shower by saturday night into your sunday from that weak disturbance. Thats going to scrape across the sierra nevada. All the code is done by the students and every decision about how to build it made by the students. Reporter they just returned from the Robotics World Championship in houston last month. Although they didnt win the overall competition the team and valley made it to the semifinals. Doing it yourself is a great feeling. Reporter valley did well and this team member won the deans list award issued to only 10 students in the world. To win it and to be next to these amazing people is really amazing. Reporter there are 785 students85 students on the team and 40 were turned away. The number of students in the class goes up not down. Reporter the students come to the lab to become a part of a Community Like a family. This is like a second home to me in my opinion. I come here whenever i have any free time after school when its open. And i really think that i know what i want to do in the future.
