Administrators make seniority hires and fires. It protects training teachers. School districts dont have stability to get rid of bad teachers. The Charles Ramsey says tenure laws leave School Districts without options. He says his district has spent millions fighting to remove failing teachers. We have to have that flexibility. If we dont, we will constantly see the same results over and over and over again. Over a period of time we might be without a tenure system. Even with todays ruling, legal analyst says it isnt dead in california. She said state lawmakers could spend more time evaluating teachers before they make a decision. It would take a few minutes r. Some teachers at king elementary in ring monday say they dont want to work with tenured teachers not pulling tear weight. If youre not putting your heart in it and youre ten youred and youre just tired collecting your check, dont do this to our kids. California is one of five states where teachers can earn tenure in a few years. A cal student went out on a hike friday and hasnt been seen since. Cody matthews was dropped off near tahoe wednesday. He didnt call me when he said he would. He didnt call his parents like he said he would. We dont have anything that we can identify that shows any foul play. Hes got no illnesses. He doesnt have medicine that he has to take. Codys cell phone hasnt been use since friday. The area where cody was last seen in the lower sierra nevada. Oakland police have made arrests in shootings that injured two children. One of the shootings happened at a bus stop near 66th avenue. A 3yearold boy and a woman were hurt in gunfire there. Two people have been arrested in that case. Police say they arrested two men in connection with this shooting on 83rd and g street. A 2yearold was injured but is expected to survive. The police chief is calling on the community to make the street safer. Oakland has been known for its activism. There is no cause more important than the safety and welfare of our children. So i call on people to report illegal gun possession. The impacts of gun violence on this community is far too staggering. At least four children have died in had hads in oakland this year. Chopper 5 over some breaking news in san jose. Capital avenue is closed because of that sink hole. Were told the area was flooded earlier in the day, but they are not telling us exactly where that water came from. As you can see, the crews are out there now digging by hand making repairs. Police say they were taken by their mother from their san pablo methamphetamine home where their father was murdered yesterday. Police got tip to a house in richmond. The mother and a male companion were arrested and will be charged with murder. By male companion, you mean relationship . What is the relationship . We are still working on it. We dont know at this point. Police plan to present their case for murder charges against the mother and the companion to thed on thursday. The minimum wage in San Francisco is going on the november ballot. Mayor ed lee and the coalition for a fair economy introduced that planned to that would raise the minimum wage in stages beginning with 12. 25 by may of 2015. It would go up a dollar every year after that ending up to 15 by july of 2018. San francisco currently has the nations highest minimum wage at 10. 74 an hour. A state oyster farm made one last bid. They are appealing to the high court for a hearing claiming the case has national significance. Marin county oyster farm had a 40 year permit to use the land by letting it expire, the government would allow the land to return to wilderness. Other bay area headlines. Not all the coaches believe this is a good idea. Every coach puts the kids health first. For us to be limited on practice time, in my personal opinion, i dont think its going to do much good. Joe montoya adds most programs already limits contact during the season, and especially during the summer. It wouldnt apply to us anyway because we already abide by those type of regulations. The ivy league and pac12 are recused full contact practices. San francisco is trying to make good on its push to eliminate crashes involving pedestrians. The District Attorneys Office announced a series of grants today. Four will go toward Pedestrian Safety projects. All of them are campaigns to get people to be more aware on San Francisco city streets. So many accidents, so many people injured. This year started really, really bad for us, and we want to continue to conveyances hang that public safety, Traffic Safety is our responsibility. You can see the water dripping off the shelves. Good, oldfashioned all natural wood which absorbs that moisture and lets the cheese breathe. There is no way i could make this cheese without having the shelves. The government is saying wooden boards can not be adequately sanitized. They are soaked in a chlorine water. Not good enough. The fda wants this cheese stored on plastic. We would have to take out all of the shelving. It is an odd collision of trends
