The california Highway Patrol is conducting its own investigation on the bridge construction. It will not comment until it is completed. It is unclear what exactly caused a deadly freeway accident on the pens insure la. The driver of a car veered off highway 101 in redwood city and slammed into a work crew. A woman in a black mercedes crashed in a group of nine young men picking up trash. They were part of a job training program. One died and another was injured along with the driver. The chp says she was going fast enough to hit the workers and slam into four cars in a nearby parking lot. She actually barely missed, there is concrete and some atteniators right before that. We dont know if drugs or alcohol was the cause. The state law requires drivers to get out of the slow lane if there are workers in the shoulder. If you cannot change lanes, you are required to slow down. A quick stop at the atm leaves a couple fighting for their lives after they were robbed and shot. It happened just after midnight sunday in campbell. The couple wanted to get some cash at the First Bank Building on campbell avenue. A man and his girlfriend were shot by a gunman. Both are expected to survive wounds to the stomach and legs. He took everything, took their car, left them for dead, effectively bleeding in the parking lot. The Police Released a sketch of the suspect. He is believed to be responsible for another robbery just blocks away. The family of a fallen cal bears Football Player wants people to know what was lost in his death. People will see what an incredible family this is, what a tight unit they were. The type of relationship. Lawyers began a press Conference Today by putting up photographs of ted agu. The 21 year old collapsed and died after Team Conditioning drills in february. The coroners report lists the cause of death as an undiscovered heart condition but the family disputes that. A wrongful death lawsuit was filed today. It alleges the trainer did not respond appropriately when agu began to experience distress. The trainer failed to intercede and stop the activity, though it was known, like in florida, that this california athlete had sickle cell trait. The same trainer was working at florida when another player collapsed and died. They say it was a similar workout. Cal had no Immediate Response to the lawsuit. The department bought a drone in january this year. It was funded as part of a federal Homeland Security grand. They wanted to use it to fly over potential bombs to avoid sending a squad into hazardous situations. As well as use it for situations that threaten public safety. The purchase was hit hard with criticism and now the Department Says this. Turns out he was or has an outstanding warrant for his arrest and may be on the run. He is wanted on a 75,000 warrant for drug charges and failure to appear. Hundreds of students at ucla are finally getting their cars back after last weeks massive water main break trapped them in flooded garages. Students and staff got the first chance to see their vehicles today, some hard to recognize under so much dirt and grime. The damage was extensive inside the cars as well. Even though ive seen photos, i didnt know the inside is so bad. As i look, there is a little bit of water. I think it was filled with water actually. A total of 400 cars were damaged. Insurance adjusters were at the site to help those car owners. So whats the next stop for those flood damaged cars . On the consumer watch, julie ross warns that they will show up for sale on used car lots. This always happens after a major flood or hurricane, the water damaged cars will likely be sold to unscrupulous dealers. They can make them look shiny and news. This is what the cars looked like this weekend, totally submerged in water. Since there is no way to repair a flood damaged car you would assume they would be scrapped. Within weeks they may be sitting on a car lot waiting for an unsuspecting customer. The Insurance Companies send them to auctions, where crooks come and bid on them, and dealers will get these cars and also, there are people curb stoners, they pose as the owner but are not, and sell them to people, and they dont even necessarily give you a discount. This woman from the Consumer Group cars says dealers dont want to let on it may have a salvage title. While they may fix up the outside of the cars, flood cars are basically ticking time bombs, rotting from the inside out as electronics in the cars control everything from brakes to air bags and have been hopelessly compromised. Always vehicle the title at vehiclehistory. Gov. They are supposed to report all cars to the database. You should also always get an inspection from a third party professional. Too many people wait until after they bought the car and then get someone to look at it. By then it is too late. We should probably point out that not everybody is selling you these cars are crooks. Yes. There are a lot of people, mechanics that buy the cars, want the parts, know what they are, know what they are doing and can use the cars. So i think what you are getting at is, rosemary said crooks go to the auctions and buy the cars. They do in addition to legitimate mechanics. But the people that sell them back to you, those are who she is referring to as crooks. These are dangerous cars to drive and in most cases will not tell you it is a salvage. You can check the title. State of california should have a history. So titlehistory. Gov. Not all insurers will upload the salvage title. When you buy a car, whether from an individual ordealer, bring a mechanic, or take the car to the mechanic and look at it before you buy it. Thank you. All right.
