Reporter regent and Lieutenant Governor gavin newsom thinks her political background if the white house and as governor of arizona is a plus. So far as she supports increasing staffing, bringing executive exception back down to earth, those are the things we would support. Reporter students hope the whole culture might change. If she uses her political background to bring the whole uc community to the table to overhaul our finances to get more public funding, to hold down tuition and put students before wall street, it will be a winning situation. Reporter now, back to the protestors here outside of the board of regents meeting, one thing theyre upset about is the selection processing. They say it was very secretive the way this went down. All of a sudden, suddenly finding out Janet Napolitano was the pick and that she has supported controversial immigration and deportation policy called secure communities which deports Illegal Immigrants accused of certain crimes. Bart managers are working on a plan to keep the trains rolling if Union Members go on strike next month. August 4 is the deadline to work out a new contract with the union. After that, workers may walk off the job. If that happens, bart management is considering using nonunion workers to keep a limited number of trains rolling. But there is a catch. It would take 15 weeks to certify replacement drivers. Under the current labor contract nonunion workers can only start their training once bart goes out on strike. Some of the protestors who vandalized oakland this week were all caught on camera. Oakland Police Need Help to track them down. Even though faces cant be seen, officers hope someone might recognize the clothes in the pictures. In this photo a protestor is caught spraypainting Trayvon Martins name on the street there. Drew cribley was hit with a hammer while protecting his restaurant from the mob on monday. He and coworkers stood in front of the windows to keep them from getting smashed again. Thats when a vandal he tried to chase away hit him in the face with a hammer. I didnt lose consciousness. I just kind of went down on my knees and held my face and i noticed right away i was bleeding like crazy. Cribley doesnt think the man who hit him was connected to the peaceful protests over the George Zimmerman acquittal. Trayvon martins parents are talking to the media about the death of their son and the murder trial against zimmerman. In an interview with cbs this morning, his mother described how she felt when a jury acquitted the Neighborhood Watch volunteer. I thought surely that he would be found guilty of Second Degree murder, manslaughter at the least, but i just knew that they would see that this was a teenager just trying to get home. This was no burglar. This was somebody somebodys son that was trying to get home. The parents say the role of racial profiling in the death of her son is obvious. Martins mother told charlie rose and Norah Odonnell that the impact of the verdict goes beyond the case itself. This is sending a terrible message, its sending out a terrible message to young teenagers, uhm, trayvon was walking too slow so should they be walking too fast . You know, so i dont think teenagers in whole know exactly what to do now. An attorney for the family now wants the department of justice to investigate the case. Lawrence, you said its going to be nice and it is. Im excited about it. You want to see the heat you . Like the hot stuff, dont you i do. Were going to crank the temperatures up. Something for everyone. Cooler temperatures at the coastline. The fog finally lifting. Earlier today. So we have a lot of sunshine on the way this afternoon still a sea breeze in through San Francisco so thats holding the temperatures down just a little bit. Still 66 degrees and comfortable outside. 47 degrees in concord. 74 degrees already in concord and 75 degrees in san jose. Throughout the afternoon, i think some of these temperatures start to get on the hot side especially inland. Numbers climbing into the upper 80s and the low 90s. Tonight, some patchy fog likely to make a return but only along the coastline. And just inside the bay were going to see a lot of valley heat the next couple of days but keeping you cool toward the ocean. Still the low clouds and fog beginning to back off and making their way toward the coastline where its going to hang out the better part of the day but inside the bay lots of sunshine and, of course, lots of sun in the valleys. Not only here but around the state its going to be very hot. Some triple digits showing up even today. So get ready, that ridge of High Pressure building in out of the Desert Southwest going to see temperatures as high as 100 in fresno for today, 97 degrees in sacramento. And 99 in yosemite. Out along the coastline we are expecting low clouds and fog to kind of linger. Computer models picking up on that. Then tonight beginning to surge back onshore but probably that ridge of High Pressure going to be too strong so not going to filter all the way to the interior valleys just inside the bay and out toward the coast. With that in mind, today a very nice afternoon outside plan on about 80 degrees and comfortable into san jose. About 89 in morgan hill. Only about 63 degrees breezy and cool in pacifica with low clouds and some fog. 80s and low 90s showing up in the east bay. And as you get inside the bay well see those temperatures in the 60s and also the 70s. Next couple of days, we are going to heat those things up pretty much right on into the weekend. Some of those temperatures near triple digits inland but out along the coastline almost 30plus degrees difference so a huge difference just about 30 miles or so. Thats a big difference. Ill go inland where the heat is. I like it cooler at the coast. Nice to nail a forecast. Every now and then. Thank you. Doctors have a new tool to fight cancer. So we are going to start off with cucumbers which you slice into half moons. Its easier to bite when its in a salad. Nice that way. Then slice up some grape tomatoes. Its also a hydrating salad if you noticed, high water content. Then put those in and son unsalted peanuts. Very important. Always remember to get unsalted. Chickpeas add the protein. Throw on some dill. Looks so nice. And some fresh parsley. Its a great staple dressing to have, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey and a little bit of brown sugar, salt and pepper and whisk it with oregano. Pour that on top and then look at the color. Now, the mustard really creams it up a little bit. This on a hot day is the whole bowl. Beautiful. Thank you, bella. Thank you, dad.
