The babys father took him out and was going to run some errands and some after sent a text to the babys mother saying they were leaving for good and if anybody called the cops the baby would be hurt. This is twoweekold henry gulerromero the subject of a statewide amber alert. Police say his father mesut guler left the apartment he shared with the babys mother around 4 30 yesterday afternoon. And shortly thereafter, sent her Text Messages saying he had taken the child. Reporter and that he was planning to move the child out of state. He indicated to her that if the police were involved, he would cause harm to himself and the child. Reporter the mother called police at 10 30 last night. The amber alert was issued and broadcast statewide. Since then the suspects phone has been tracked to san diego. The wife told us he has friends in mexico, which led you see to believe he would be head he had in that direction. Reporter guler is turkish, 22 years old, about 6 feet, 120 pounds. Police say he had a recurring argument with the babys mother about wanting to move back to new york. Police think he is driving a 2004 gmc envoy similar to this one, california license 6hil892, with a large American Eagle decal on the rear window. We immediately notified the Border Patrol of the license plate, vehicle description and his description. We dont believe he crossed the border at this time. Questions are also being raised about a potential witness being sought in the case. San Jose State University slashing 4 million out of its Spring Semester budget meaning dozens of classes are being cut in almost every department. Students will have a very difficult time now getting classes and if they do get into the classrooms, they will be packed. School officials telling kpix 5 the university has been trying to cut spending for two years. This is not easy. This is not anything this is not something anyone wants to do, but we need to spend within the confines of our budget that we are going to meet. So well look at all our options. They have cut enough already. Its just more stuff they are trying to cut making the window of opportunity a little smaller. San jose state was initially supposed to cut almost 16 million in classes and programs this year but that number came down significantly after voters passed prop 30 to end School Budget cuts. A plan to build expensive condos on San Franciscos waterfront wont be happening now that the voters have rejected it. 62 voted no on prop b and stopped the plan for the 8 washington development. Voters also rejected a related measure, prop c, which would have allowed taller buildings at the location. Environmentalists and Affordable Housing advocates strongly opposed that plan. In sunnyvale, voters approved stricter gun control laws. Measure c requires gun owners now to report a loss or theft of a weapon to police within two days. Firearms will have to be locked up when not in the owners direct possession. And ammo magazines that hold more than 10 rounds will be banned in the city. The nra will sue to stop it. Theyre hybrids, the offspring of a domestic cat bred with an exotic wild cat like this wild after cancer van. African cat serval. There are savannahs, jungle bobs and bengals. Whole lot of cat part asian leopard. Reporter the earlier the generation, the wilder the cat. An early generation jungle bob jumped our camera. They may be a smaller version of the lion and the tiger and the leopard, but they still are wild. Reporter this breeder warns these cats are not for everyone. Its a whole different world to have a cat like this. But you have to know what youre getting into and be prepared for it. Reporter case in point, king tut. He was starving to death. Reporter tuts a pet savannah abandoned by his owner. When they get to be 2 or 3, they start spraying urine all over the house to mark their territory and thats when people get rid of them. Reporter tuts too wild to be handled. He sprays, bites and scratches. He will live the rest of his life in a wildlife sanctuary. Not all throwaway hybrids are so lucky. A lot of them being euthanized which is very sad. Reporter Marilyn Krieger owns several hybrids and is an expert on cat behavior. She says these cats can be trained, that they are smart, lively and loyal. But they need lots of mental stimulation and attention. A lot of people, unfortunately, get them for the wrong reasons and they are beautiful cats but they are soing anive. Reporter if you are not home, she recommends an outdoor enclosure or one of her tamer exotic hybrids. She wont sell her early generation cats to just anyone. If somebody wants them wild and they want that binge cat or that exotic cat, go for it. But if you have little children, do not attempt it. Reporter and dont attempt to keep them cooped up in a tiny apartment. These cats need room to roam. A cat specialist told us that choosing a breeder is just as important as choosing the cat. You want a facility that certainlyizes the animals socializes the animals early on. Or you could just get a dog. Some people like the cats. Theyre beautiful. Might eat all the rest of the pets. Or your child [ laughter ] we have change coming our way. We have a lot of sunshine out there now and a few high clouds passing on overhead. Otherwise, it looks like a great day outside. Probably the warmest day of the week. You can see some of those high clouds drifting right over the bay bridge right now. The temperatures just heating up. 69 degrees in livermore. 68 in san jose. And 64 degrees in San Francisco. I think as we head throughout the afternoon well see plenty of sunshine and a mix of sun and clouds. And tonight partly cloudy, mild, big changes coming our way. This will be the last day of the big strong ridge and once it begins to weaken, well see changes, maybe we start to talk about some rain in the next week. Right now you can see a couple of these systems encroaching on the ridge of High Pressure so couple of clouds over the ridge. Well see clouds, some mild temperatures, and then after today, it looks like the numbers are going to start to cool down. I want to show you this storm. This is some kind of storm a super typhoon thats formed and headed directly toward the philippines. Check out these winds, sustained, get this, this doesnt happen very often, sustained at 175 Miles Per Hour and gusting to 205, moving out of the west to 21 Miles Per Hour. The current track is going to take it right on shop in the central philippines. Expecting it to move onshore tomorrow on the island. We are talking about a major hurricane. This is a monster storm with a surge of up to 20 feet. Potentially dangerous deadly storm system there. Around the state today, 75 degrees in fresno, 74 sacramento, 70 monterey bay. Temperatures around our bay generally in the 60s and also the 70s. So a very nice afternoon outside. As we look toward the next couple of days, well watch those temperatures cooling off a few degrees. And then it looks like as we head in toward monday and tuesday, at least a chance of some showers.
