A stand of solidarity today to stop an eviction in San Francisco that some stay is unfair. Advocates of families being evicted from a building on the street protested outside the courthouse today. They say Big Tree Properties bought the building and issued tenants eviction notices three weeks later. One resident we spoke with says hes been living in his apartment for 15 years and was told to get out in just a matter of days. We suffer because of them. They dont care about us, all they care is about money. And thats not good. Got to be fair to everybody. The three units with eviction notices house 20 people ranging in age from 7 to 83 years old. A stunning new report is shedding light on just how much Santa Clara County spends to deal with the homeless. Were talking a half billion dollars. Kiet do on how a bulk of that money is being spent. Arresting and citing people for trespassing all in an effort to keep people away from returning to the jungle. Now today, a new report is out that is giving us a true look at the cost of homelessness in Santa Clara County and the number is quite staggering. Were talking about 3 billion spent over the course of six years. That is what Santa Clara County paid in trips to the e. R. , jail and Mental Healthcare for the homeless. On average, that is more than a half billion dollars per year. Santa clara county got these numbers by mining the data of 104,000 Homeless People between the years of 2007 and 2012. Now look at hospital, jail and counseling records. So heres the breakdown of that half billion dollar a year price tag. More than half of it goes to healthcare, a third of it goes to the Justice System and a chunk 13 goes to social services, the findings will be presented later today to a Community Leader forum.
