Hope that the first hurricane headed toward hawaii would weaken as it moves west across the pacific. It did not. And now hawaii is poised to take its first direct hurricane hit in 22 years. Hurricane iselle is expected to hit the big island as early as this evening. Heavy rains and wind gusts up to 85 miles an hour are expected along with flooding in some areas. State officials are telling people on all of the Hawaiian Islands to get ready, but not to panic. The American Red Cross is setting up some nofrills shelters. Just providing a safe place to get out of the storm basically. There are no amenities, maybe no Running Water or food. Reporter and another hurricane, julio, is lurking right behind. Tourists and locals have been getting in some lastminute beach time. Bottled water and other items are quickly disappearing from grocery stores. And for travelers, Hawaiian Airlines did waive reservation change fees and fare differences today and tomorrow because of the storms. Roberta gonzales has been tracking both hurricanes. Roberta, how are things looking now . Anne, they are prepared as you were saying throughout the hawaiian chain this morning. I have been to hawaii when theyre having tropical storms there. People take this extremely seriously. Now, out the door hurricane see sell is going to make a direct track towards the big island and primarily around the hilo area. They will be have damaging winds and widespread flooding and power outages. Right now this particular track is about 400 miles just off the hawaiian coast. The gusts are up to about 115 Miles Per Hour. Expected to make landfall about 8 00 tonight local time which is 5 00 our time. A bay area stowaway says it wont happen again. The woman who flew without a ticket from san jose to los angeles is now out of jail and on probation. She talked about how she was a child of the 60s and that her actions at the airport was a way to draw attention to problems there. But she knows what she did was wrong. She pleaded no contest to willfully and unlawfully stowing away on a plane, which is a misdemeanor. Sources say she tailgated a large family at the tsa security line here at san jose mineta then tried multiple times before finally sneaking past the Southwest Airlines gate agent and on to the plane to l. But whats important here is that she was screened by the tsa for prohibited items before boarding the flight. Each has pleaded not guilty and could face up to 20 years if convicted. Happening today the state assembly is set to vote on a bill aimed at deterring robbers from stealing cell phones. The crimes are extremely common in San Francisco. The bill would require any cell phone sold in the state to include a socalled kill switch which disables the phone when its reported stolen. If it becomes law, california would be just the second state to make kill switches mandatory. Emergency healthcare is changing today in western contra costa county.
