Debris falling from the building on to the street below last night. This fire was intense as you can see. Parts of the ceiling of this mixed use building collapsed making fighting this fire very, very difficult. It started before 7 p. M. The top floor of that building is all homes so firefighters were working fever,ly to search for people who may still be inside the building while trying to keep the fire from spreading. But there came a point where they just had to step away. That was an allout evacuation call for the firefighters to first of all we made the call to get them off the roof because the roof became untenable. Reporter six people were taken to the hospital and one man, who was evacuated from the building, died. The red cross is now helping about 40 people who lived in the building find another place to stay. There were a lot of witnesses. This is a very busy neighborhood in San Francisco. Now the city of san jose is making it a priority to do something more permanent. 24yearold kiran pabla was jogging along the road on monday afternoon when Police Say Two drivers were racing, their cars collided, veered off the road and then pinned her against a tree. My thought is we need to do something to this roadway and i know that the department of transportation is hard at work now and will be getting [ indiscernible ] trailers throughout soon. But again, those two muni lines are being rerouted as well as city streets in the area. 22 and mission are closed to vehicle traffic. So basically avoid the area if you can.
