The accident happened last night about to miles north of manhattan during the evening rush hour. Investigators say the train hit a jeep stopped under a gate on the tracks triggering an explosion and fire. I saw the first car was burned and i couldnt imagine how many people died. 650 people were on board the metronorth train at the time. The driver of the suv is among the 7 confirmed dead. After 43 days without rain here in the bay area a strong storm is moving in. At the same time, a team of scientists has sailed out of San Francisco into the storms path as to study the Atmospheric River a ribbon of water vapor that stretches for thousands of miles and carries 15 times as much water as the mississippi river. They are responsible for 50 of the rain in california. The ship will monitor the Atmospheric River and launch weather balloons to study it. Californians have met governor browns call to reduce water use by 20 . In december, water use was down by 22 compared with the same month a year before.
