Later today in oakland, the city council will vote on the coliseum city project. This is oaklands 2 billion plan to keep the raiders and as happy and not leave town. The plan is to build up to 3 new stadiums at the current coliseum complex along with apartments and retail. City council has to approve an exclusive negotiating agreement with a developer then county supervisors have to vote on it. Betty yu tells bus a new lawsuit that claims some popular wines contain more than just grapes the lawsuit is over. The fact that these 83 wines have high levels of arsenic. Reporter the Class Action Lawsuit filed today accuses more than 24 california winemakers and sellers of knowingly producing wine that contains high levels of inorganic arsenic. Inorganic arsenic is 500 times more toxic than just organic arsenic. Reporter some popular brands named include beringer cupcake and trader joes two buck chuck. The wine had up to 5 times the maximum the epa allows for drinking water. There are now no federal labeling requirements to tell us you whats in your wine. The lab that tests the wine found that the lower the price of wine on a per liter basis, the higher the amount of arsenic. I picked up this bottle of menage atwo for 9. 99. The lab found it four times the limit. About making a profit. I dont think they will do a ton to really make sure that its 100 clean. Making as much as they can and getting it out the door. Reporter winemakers try to speed up the process by adding wood chips or alleged coloring. The lawyers say the goal of the lawsuits are to get the wines recalled and then get the customers refunds. A San Francisco Police Officer has turned in his badge as part of a scandal involving officers sending racist and homophobic texts. Michael robinson resigned after 23 years on the force. He was once featured on the cover of the advocate. The Police Department is investigating more than 10 other officers to see if they were involved. Man charged with assaulting a 10yearold boy off the streets. Oakland Police Arrested miguel barajas. Police say the boy was walking home from school in late january when the suspect took him to a nearby area and assaulted him. Witnesses came forward and helped police make the arrest. Position that there should be an independent palestine alongside a safe and secure israel. A group of dogs is in the bay area this morning rescued just in time as andria borba shows us. Reporter with the cheer 13 dogs were welcomed to the city of San Francisco and a better life all the way from south korea. The dogs were saved off a farm that was raising them for meat. As dog lovers as animal lovers, its really a difficult practice to know that it exists and certainly to have a place in ending it is wonderful. At a News Conference yesterday, the employees union said managers bought workers new radios but they had a feature that let managers listen in on Worker Private conversations even when the workers werent using the radios. The zoo says that feature was used only in emergencies a claim the union isnt buying. There is simply no way to state that a system meant for eavesdropping people without their knowledge that was known only to the director and Vice President of operations could possibly be for our safety. In a statement, the zoos executive director says it is all about safety and they are not monitoring employee conversations. She said, quote, emergency monitoring on the zoos new radio system was a vendor feature designed to assist with medical and safety emergencies. When i was made aware of the radios capabilities, this feature was disabled. Chevron wants to clean up a toxic mess in oakland but some parents are worried the clean up could do more harm than good. Reporter the richmond chevron refinery fire a few years ago sent hundreds of people to the hospital. Parents worry the chevron clean up will send dangerous chemicals into the air. Reporter chevrons plan drill wells and pump air into the ground then use a vacuum to suck up the petroleum vapor to a machine that scrubs the contaminants and releases clean air. Air quality regulators admit a small amount of cancercausing carcinogens could escape into the air. There may be a few fugitive emissions but not significant enough to cause health risks for the community. Reporter but parents and teachers say any amount of extra pollutants would harm children. Kids this young as long as theyre still developing, their immune system is still developing. Reporter chevron is trying to move fast to start the clean up in a few months. State air quality regulators could approve the plan as early as next month. Well, this morning, people in the arctic saw a total eclipse of the sun. Two right lanes are shut down for construction until 6 00 this morning. You can see traffic down to 42 approaching the Construction Zone at the bay bridge toll plaza, westbound still okay. In january Martinez City Council voted to approve a plan to build dozens of homes on the 26acre site but now a group of neighbors is opposing it saying the land should be turned into a park. The issue will be settled by the voters next year. A brutal attack in a Sonoma County parking lot. 32yearold adam martin was beaten outside a Convenience Store in rohnert park. One witness says he was kicked in the head several times. Police dont know what sparked the attack or whether adam was randomly targeted. Right now he has a broken neck and his family says it could get worse. According to the neurosurgeon i talked to, if he turns too quick or moves his head the wrong way, he could be paralyzed from the neck down. A new report finds World Health Officials delayed sounding the alarm and it may have cost lives. The Associated Press obtained internal documents that show the World Health Organization did not declare a Public Health emergency until two months after the outbreak started. The International President of Doctors Without Borders says she lobbied leaders to do something sooner. [ indiscernible ] its out of control. She looked at me and she said, doctor, im not that pessimistic. The World Health Organization says it was slow to respond but blames it on the complexity of containing ebola. By the time an emergency was declared in august, more than 1,000 people were dead. The vice principal of a middle school in fresno now on leave this morning after getting caught saying this.
