Fire crews are battling a house fire on lola lane. The fire was called in a little after 3 a. M. There are reports of flames shooting through the roof of the home and firefighters are searching the house for victims. Kpix 5s keit do is at the scene and well have a report later. The Santa Clara CountySheriffs Department is searching for a missing teenager. 17yearold Connor Sullivan was last seen monday in an early class at Monte Vista High School in cupertino. Deputies and volunteers have been searching for him throughout the cupertino area. Sheriffs investigators do not suspect foul play, but they are concerned. He doesnt have a vehicle. We dont believe he has any cash on him. We know he has a cell phone but its turned off. Hes a steady kid, hard working, great student. Very unusual. Connor sullivan is about 55, 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, faded black sweatshirt, black shorts and blue and white athletic shoes. He reportedly enjoys running at the Fremont Older open space preserve. A 7yearold boy has life threatening injuries shot in front of his home in south vallejo. It happened about 5 30 p. M. Yesterday on 5th street near cherry. Shots rang out. About 40 people gathered at wake for a man who died of Natural Causes earlier in the day. That gunfire occurred at a nearby intersection. Police say up to 5 people were involved and were firing indiscriminately. One woman said it sounded like fireworks and then a stray bullet hit the boy. The boys father pick him up and put him in a car and i guess, um, took him to the hospital. The boy was hit in the torso. At last report he was in surgery with a torn spleen and aorta. So far no suspects have been arrested. A 66yearold man reportedly says he was defending himself when he shot a relative in a san carlos home yesterday afternoon on crestview drive. The San Mateo CountySheriffs Department says a 33yearold man was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. So far investigators are not releasing further details. Martinez Police Officer recovering from smoke inhalation after helping evacuate people from an apartment fire. The officer was just finishing his shift early yesterday morning when he heard the call about a fire at the Mission Pines apartments. Among the people evacuated was a man trying to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. One other person was also injured and is expected to recover the cause of the fire still unknown. San jose has adopted new rules on outdoor water use to try to cut overall consumption by 30 . The City Council Approved the rules unanimously on tuesday. They restrict watering of lawns at homes and businesses to two days a week and only before 10 a. M. Or after 8 p. M. Residents cannot top off swimming pools with more than a foot of water and they cannot use Potable Water to wash cars. All these rules are now in effect. 4 34. Time for weather. But were not seeing any delay in that area farther east coming out of the Altamont Pass in tracy where we always see traffic this time of the morning from 205 to north flynn. Drive time is still only 14 minutes for that stretch. No major hot spots or accidents out the door. And the roadwork from 23rd to the 29th the last couple of weeks, thats not there this morning so everything is okay. No traffic breaks needed near the Oakland Coliseum and oakland airport. Former baseball star barry bonds is celebrating a legal victory after a federal Appeals Court overturned his obstruction of justice conviction. In a statement, bonds said, quote, i am humbled and truly thankful for the outcome as well as the opportunity our judicial system affords to all individuals to seek justice. The conviction all stemmed from bonds 2003 testimony before a grand jury investigating the balco laboratory steroids scandal. Bonds gave a rambling answer when he was asked if his trainer gave him steroids. The grand jury probe led to several convictions including balco founder victor conte who spent four months in jail. Well, im happy for barry bonds that he gets the opportunity to move on and live his life now. All along, i have said that i believe that this is nothing more than a trophy hunt and its a waste of federal taxpayer dollars. The u. S. Supreme court is now the justice departments only option to revive the conviction. So far theres no word on what prosecutors plan to do. As for bonds, he is still involved with the giants and attended tuesday nights game against the dodgers. Former Hayward Police sergeant is now in jail. 55yearold Michael Scott beale faces nine felony counts. He is accused of stealing nearly half a Million Dollars from a mentally ill woman he once arrested for prostitution. He allegedly told the woman he was going to marry her and they would buy a house together. He retired after 27 years with Hayward Police. A man suspected of being the mrs. Some earthquake researchers say once californias big one happens, it could trigger even more bigger quakes along other faults. Juan fernandez has the latest now on some new findings. The historic period in l. A. 150 years has been relative quiet. That will end. Reporter the scientists at this weeks size mo Logical Society conference says a quake, is overdue. Research suggests that shaking from the big one could trigger large earthquakes along nearby faults. Every earthquake on every fault communicates with other earthquakes and helps influence the future occurrence of other earthquakes on other faults. The stresses get redistributed to all the other faults. Reporter dolan says the pointed of his study was to get a deeper understanding of how and what the basic controls of earthquakes are. What the study is showing is that the pace of earthquake occurrence is extremely nonconstant. Its not regular. Its not bang, bang, bang, bang. What its showing is that we have really long periods of quiet. Reporter for the study, he and his colleagues focused on southern californias second largest fault, the garlock fault in the mojave. Data collected there showed how earthquake faults can stop moving for thousands of years and then go into a super cycle releasing seismic strain. That doesnt mean its going to occur tomorrow or 10 years from now but, you know, its not going to be 100 years from now probably. Its probably in most our lifetimes. Reporter professor dolan says his research is in no way to be alarmist but to keep in mind we can all survive the big one by simply being prepared well ahead of time. But it is northbound 101 commute direction traffic just past the 280 680 interchange where it bottlenecks later on in the morning. But again, mostly just a visual distraction at this point.
