There is no word on the fate of the others on board. Six u. S. Marines and two Nepalese Army soldiers were on that helicopter on a mission to deliver aid to earthquake survivors. That chopper disappeared nearly three days ago. It had been delivering aid to victims in remote villages. The pilot had reported a fuel problem before it went down. That was among more than a dozen u. S. Military aircraft helping nepal recover from the two major earthquakes. And there is a nepal native in the bay area who has been watching the developments very closely. At the same time, becoming a u. S. Citizen. An Airline Spokesman says all 134 passengers who were on board at the time were unharmed. United is only saying that smoke was caused by some sort of mechanical problem on the plane. The mercury news reports that in the first nine months of last year, blacks made up 18 of those who were detained during traffic stops even though they make up only 3 of the population. Latinos came in second with 16 . And whites were at 9 . We asked the citys mayor why this problem keeps coming up. They are asking the question about race in policing in every big city in America Today and in every big city as in san jose, we have to continue to look for ways to improve accountability. Friends and family gathered at the scene for a vigil last night. Investigators say the motive for the killing is unknown. California a step closer to requiring vaccination for most schoolchildren in an effort to prevent spread of illness. Yesterday state Senate Approved a measure which calls for almost all kindergartners entering schooling to vaccinated starting in the fall of next year. It would end exemptions for kids whose parents object because of personal belief. That would be a really effective way to ensure that were protected against outbreaks of preventable diseases. In a compromise the bill would grandfather in 26,000 children whose parents have already claimed the exemption. The measure still needs approval from the state assembly before going to governor brown. Californias coffers are flush with extra money and the governor is revising the state budget. The state has an additional 6 billion in revenue. The adjusted numbers means 2. 2 billion for drought relief, 62 million to fight wildfires, and a 380 million earned income tax credit for the states working poor. Its also an important bill to avoid tuition hikes at the uc campuses. The system will get a 120 million increase plus the governor has agreed that the state will pitch in 436 million to ucs underfunded pension. Part of a compromise that means instate undergraduates tuition at the 10uc campuses will remain flat for at least the next two years. The king of the blues is gone. Legendary musician b. B. The team says they offered the money as a goodwill gesture to fix up youth athletic facilities. The city saw it differently. There are three soccer fields next to levis stadium and the 49ers want to use them for parking. That created an uproar with people saying the 9ers got their big new stadium, so lets let the kids have their fields. Its just the timing is wrong. This is right in the middle of negotiations.
