Another Police Officer is placed on administrative leave pending a misconduct investigation. The mayor says it has nothing to do with that sex scandal plaguing the department. The new investigation involves this homicide investigator, Sergeant Michael gann. He is being investigated for having his girlfriend help him write up his police reports. Those reports are supposed to be confidential. According to the mayors often, gants investigation is unrelated to the case involving this woman 18yearold celeste guap. She claims she had sex with more than 20 members of bay area law enforcement. Of those, she says three were opd officers and that she was a minor when it happened. Libby schaaf has cycled through three Different Police chiefs in a week. The office uncovered this latest alleged case of misconduct this past saturday. The mayor has asked the District Attorney to investigate. Today in john burris will file a suit regarding a man shot with a beanbag last year in the mission. Despite the beanbags he came at the officers with a knife and they opened fire. Buries says that police violated their training and common sense when they used deadly force that day. It did produce up to a tenth throughout most portions of the north bay and is now riding well to the north of the bay area as it lifts to the northeast. Traffic moving pretty nice friday light northbound towards the maze. Southbound no delays. Clear out of oakland into hayward and fremont traffic clear. A nice ride so far across the san mateo bridge. We havent had any problems or incidents on 92 this morning. 880 to 101 pretty easy ride about 13 to 14 minutes. Thats all it will take to get across the span and again no delays along 101, once you hit the peninsula. 101 north of there out of marin traffic is light from 580 down into San Francisco. Clear across the golden gate bridge. Great state. San Francisco Police are beefing up their presence in mission because of surging crime in the past few weeks. Joe vazquez has the story reporter bart stations 16th and mission, first an argument, then a shooting. The gunman fled. Seven hours earlier and a block away a double shooting on mission. Two men were sitting in a parked car. Another car drove up with a man and woman. The man got out and started shooting. Pop, pop, pop, like that, you know . Reporter three shots . Yeah. Thats what i heard. These arent connected. But we are aware of it and were going to be proactive and responsive to it. Reporter the captain says of the five shootings in the Mission District in about two weeks, none seemed to be related to each other or part of any trending gang violence. A woman was murdered on may 30th at 18th and alabama. A man was killed on tuesday, at 16th and shotwell. Thats a lot. One person is too many. Reporter the captain is stepping up patrols in the Mission District. We are on it. We are going to have officers out there. We are going to be proactive and do everything we can to prevent Violent Crime from happening. Its a shame. We are under stress with the changes here. This is like driving nails deeper. More than two weeks after being shot by a suspect in fremont, one of the injured officers is now out of the hospital. On june 1 a gunman inside this white truck shot both Police Officers after a routine traffic stop. He then broke into someones home and holed up inside for hours. He later killed himself. The second officer is still recovering in the hospital. This morning, new cell phone video is giving us a glimpse of the terrifying moments and chaos inside the pulse nightclub when a gunman went on a shooting rampage. Some may find this video disturbing. Marlie hall has more reporter this grainy cell phone video showed more than a dozen people packed into a bathroom stall as omar mateen went on a deadly shooting spree inside the pulse nightclub in orlando. Miguel lava was shot multiple times. We just tried to keep everybody as calm as possible and keep them quiet so he wouldnt come back in there and shoot at us. Reporter sources say mateen checked social media for trending top, like pulse orlando and shooting in the middle of his killing spree. Investigators say he also exchanged and i love you text with his wife noor salman. She has been cooperating with police but officials suspect she knew about the plot and will likely face charges. Reporter this blaze near santa barbara, california exploded thursday night driven by winds, the flames marching from the mountains right down to the 101 freeway. Firefighters raced in with helicopters to drop water on cars in an effort to keep them and the freeway from burning. Its insane. Its nothing like i have ever seen. Its terrifying really. Very dangerous. Very dangerous. Reporter hundreds of firefighters are battling the california blaze using half a dozen air tankers and helicopters. Fire Officials Say this could be the worst wildfire season ever in the state. This has been a significant and challenging fire. Its burning in an area notorious for life and property loss, structure loss and fuels that have not burned for over 70 years. Reporter in arizona, firefighters are making progress against the cedar creek fire. The blaze has torched close to 8,000 acres while hundreds have been evacuated, thousands more under preevacuation orders leaving many families very nervous. They called in and said mom, its really scary out here. Its smoky. What do we do . Reporter another fire this one in new mexico, has burned more than 12,000 acres. The governor of new mexico has declared a state of emergency in two counties. A Good Samaritan saves a man from a burning car in cupertino. The man in the white shirt in this Youtube Video says that there were dozens of bystanders but no one stepped in. You can see him run up to the driver and pull him to safety before paramedics and firefighters arrive. His friend leo shot this video and posted it. They were on the way to lunch at the bollinger road shopping plaza. The Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office says if not for the mans actions, the driver would have died. I think it was pretty heroic of him. He didnt think twice. He just jumped in. Our hero. He is a hero. A lot of people would do it. The Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office says that the driver is suspected of driving under the influence and had accidentally set his car engine on fire. He was booked on dui and arson charges. A chicago student may be going to high school this fall but in his 8th grade graduation speech it sounded like he was running for president. Temperatures in the 50s and 60s. The winds are not a problem this morning. They are pretty flat. Northwest winds at 4 in pleasanton. We have calm winds right now around the carquinez strait. Delta westsouthwest winds up to 13 Miles Per Hour. Our satellite and radar shows that that low pressure system that promised us at least a quarter inch of rain and then downsized to twotenths inch of rain then a tenth inch of rain is still hanging off the coast lifting northeast. So the showers arent entirely gone. Showers in santa rosa. For the most part this area of low pressure will continue to jog to the northeast and as it does it will take the remaining clouds with it. Overall this is how im looking at your futurecast. A heat wave coming up in the bay area. Each day this weekend additional warming of the temperatures. Then wait until you see tuesday. Sunrise 5 47. Sunset 8 34. Today a warmer day than yesterday but still slightly below average for this time of the year. 60s at the beaches. 64 San Francisco close to the average high of 66. Friday light in fact if you are usually taking 580 out of tracy westbound its busy. Typical slowandgo conditions 34 Miles Per Hour in some spots. But again no delays past there. Its better past greenville all the way towards 680 as you head towards the dublin interchange. No delays on 680 traffic light in both directions. We are seeing a lot of green on our freeways so great way to start the weekend southbound 880, westbound 24 where we typically see some sluggish conditions. Westbound 4 hillcrest to 242 everything is clear right now. Bay bridge looks like delays have thinned out in the cash lanes. We saw 10 cars deep for a few minutes there no delays right now as you work your way out of oakland into San Francisco. Eastshore freeway drive times look good as well 18 minutes carquinez bridge to the maze. Once you get across the span there, looks like they are wrapping up some roadwork right around Yerba Buena Island. It extended toward harrison streets speeds about 50 so everything is cleared just a few minutes earlier than expected. If you are taking 880 this morning, not a bad choice. In fact, northbound looks good near the coliseum southbound no delays at least from 238 down into fremont. Thats your morning drive. Thinking about a change of scenery .
