We have reports of a broken down big rig just cleared out of lanes westbound 580 near north flynn road. Its busy westbound already seeing delays 25 Miles Per Hour away from 205 out of tracy. As the 4th of july nears many in the bay area are stocking up on burger buns and poot chips but one East Palo Alto man filled his house with something different. 600 pounds of illegal fireworks. As andria borba shows us, he got busted. Reporter in the front yard of this East Palo Alto home, there is lighter blued, propane tanks and empty gas canisters. On the inside of this Gardenia Court home the East Palo Alto Police Department says there was 600 pounds of fireworks and explosives. He was warehousing and selling high capacity commercial grade fireworks from his home. Reporter 54yearold Michael Fields was arrested. All fireworks are illegal in East Palo Alto and after weeks of getting nuisance calls about fireworks going up in the runup to the 4th of july, detectives began to make some progress in tracking down their source. We arrested four juveniles earlier this week in one of the public parks in possession of illegal fireworks. Reporter in a raid, fields was arrested and all of this was found. Fireworks with the word mortar on the label and long fuses. These are large devise, many of them airborne devices where you ignite them and they go through a series of sequences where you may have as many as 10 or 15 discharges from the one single device. Reporter some so volatile they had to be handed to the bomb squad. The m80 barrel bomb type devices that were there that you cant store those in a Police Evidence room. Reporter fields was booked on nearly 600,000 bail. If you are wondering why that amount is so high, the chief says this is the reason. The home he was in is very close to 3 other homes in front and on both sides. If those fireworks had ignited in that home, he would have blown that house up, probably knocked the houses next to him off their foundation and set off a Chain Reaction fire. A Contra Costa County sheriffs deputy has resigned amid a sex scandal that began with Oakland Police officers. Former Deputy Ricardo perez could face a criminal investigation by Oakland Police. Contra costa county sheriff David Livingston said although this case involves one deputy out of the over 1,000 Sheriffs Office employees we will not tolerate even a single breach of the public trust we work so hard to earn. Celeste guap claims she had sex with perez several times last year when she was 17 years old. She says she had sex with 29 officers total including three from San Francisco and many from oakland. She said she still works as a prostitute. The scandal began to unfold in september of last year after Oakland Police officer Brendan Obrien committed suicide. He left a note that referred to guap. Meanwhile a livermore Police Officer was placed on leave yesterday in connection with that same scandal. The Alameda County District Attorneys Office is investigating that case. In santa rosa a court visit today for the drifter accused of walking into a Movie Theater and stabbing a stranger. Joe vazquez on the victims recovery and another brutal crime that the suspect may have committed reporter he was watching a horror movie called the shallows when the real life drama began. 21yearold adam lucero was sitting in the roxy theater in a downtown santa rosa. Police say 23yearold delonte antioch hart a random stranger opened the door to the Movie Theater, ambushed adam from behind and started stabbing him. The two had never met. Thats pretty, like, its almost like out of the movies, just weird it happened at a movie. Reporter according to social media posts from friends of the family adam had surgery for stab wounds to the throat, ear and chest. He is recovering and expected to survive. Hart was arrested and charged with attempted murder and police are now calling him a person of interest in another violent crime. A homeless man named [ non english name ] was savagely stabbed 50 times as he lay in this doorway just blocks from the theater just after midnight monday. Right now police are not calling hart a suspect but they do want to find out where he was and what he was doing at the time of the murder. Definitely. Joshua brown the owner of a model s using autopilot was killed in may in a collision with a truck in florida. The national Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it will evaluate the design and performance of that autopilot feature. It is on 27,000 tesla vehicles. I think it will send a signal to the marketplace that we need to be very clear, were not yet at the age of self driving cars on the road. It was a Close Encounter for one homeowner in pacifica who spotted a Mountain Lion prowling around the neighborhood. The big cat sighting happened at the 700 block of big bend drive at 8 30 wednesday night. A homeowner saw it jump a fence into the neighbors yard and by the time Pacifica Police got there, there was no sign of that Mountain Lion. The Consumer Product Safety Commission built this setup in washington to show how dangerous they can be. The most severe accidents happen when people attempt to make their own fireworks.
