The suspect pleaded guilty but the victims are still demanding justice. As kpix 5s andria borba reports, the victims say that investigators botched the case. Reporter while Denise Huskins and aaron quinn were standing side by side their attorney leveled new claims against the officers who handled their case. Right from the beginning, Law Enforcement screwed up this investigation. Reporter he says an fbi agent failed to disclose a conflict of interest during the investigation that may have delayed denises return. That the lead case agent here david says ma had a personal connection to the intended victim of the kidnapping. Miss huskins was not the intended victim. Reporter he accused vallejo pd and the fbi of tunnel vision on aaron as the suspect and didnt believe him when he got calls from the kidnapper. The kidnapper called twice and i believe that the fbi has the technology to track down those calls had they answered the phone. Reporter the march 2015 kidnapping on vallejos mare island first began with a massive search and led to this now Infamous Press conference in front of the Police Department where denise and aaron were accused of perpetrating a hoax after denise wound up at her fathers home in orange county. So if anything, it is mr. Quinn and miss huskins that owes this community an apology. Reporter it was months later when Matthew Muller broke into another home and left behind a cell phone that he was eventually captured. Today, standing before a federal judge in sacramento, muller entered a guilty plea to kidnapping Denise Huskins. Outside the courthouse, quinns family and mullers family, friends also took aim at Law Enforcement. This is more justice than we have ever gotten but there wont be real justice until the people who botched up this investigation are held accountable. At least muller is had some accountability. She is a victim from what happened to her and some of the releases from the Police Department saying that she was lying, that obviously made her a double victim from the case. Muller pleaded guilty as part of a deal to avoid a life sentence in the case. Meanwhile, huskins and quinn filed a civil suit against vallejo pd. They want an independent investigation into the handle of the case.
