Temperatures we are into the 50s and later today topping off in the 50s and up to about 63 degrees in san jose. Also in oakland through piedmont into alameda, 63 tri valley, and fremont. Earlier in the day, the Alameda County board of supervisors voted on the same deal. It was put together by a football hall of famer ronnie lott. Im very comfortable supporting this project and i think that its a very good deal. Nothing is perfect. This is a very good deal that protects the city the best we can and does not put ourselves, um, at risk in the future. Some critics say that the money should be put towards other needs in the city. Later today, nfl owners will meet to hear about lotts plan. They will eventually decide whether to allow the raiders to stay, or move to las vegas. Later today several Silicon Valley leaders are meeting with president elect donald trump. They are meeting at trump tower in new york city for a tech summit. We know of at least 7 people who will there be tim cook, Sheryl Sandberg and others. Meanwhile, hundreds of tech workers have a message for the president elect. This is pretty notorious for being flooded during rainy seasons so just fyi there is flooding there so drive carefully through the area. From marin county into San Francisco, 580 to the golden gate toll plaza will take you about 14 minutes. And also a crash in richmond, westbound 80 before el portal drive, its a threecar crash blocking the two left lanes there. And causing some slowdowns already this early in the morning. In that traffic is at 30 Miles Per Hour. If you take that down to the bay bridge toll plaza heres a live look at that cars moving smoothly through the toll plaza but definitely carefully because of that rain. With powerful winds and rain heading toward the bay area, this massive sinkhole in pacifica could be even tougher to patch up. And kpix 5s cate caugiran tells us theres been a wrench in the repair work because the city and Property Owners are at odds over who is responsible. Reporter the city of pacifica says the sinkhole is on private property so its up to the owners to fix it. The owners say this whole thing started because of a city piping issue. Names tell me they just want it taken care of. Every year that im here, its just the same old story. Reporter a new pacifica sinkhole to fix. But this time, who is responsible . Start off as a little hole, finally its all just collapsed in and its huge as of right now. Reporter the city says it has no role in this. The sinkhole is on private land which means that its up to Trinity Property Consultants the Property Managers of ocean air apartments, to fix it. The Irvine Company says not so fast. According to the company, a city pipe caused it. A large pipe separated causing the sand to erode and the rain made it worse. And while they are working on the fix, trinity says the city still needs to get involved. Coastal access is shut off and walkways are closed as the repairs continue. A lot of us have dogs and we live here for that and its sad were not able to bring our dogs down here. Reporter crews pumped sand and concrete into the sinkhole. Andrew lived in the area for nearly two years. Consistently you will see big piles of sand on the beach. Rocks are exposed that i havent seen for a long time. He died yesterday after a heart attack. His family safes playing hockey with his son when he collapsed. We remember one of americas favorite tv dads. We were worried about heart attack but he was breathing and talking. They got him on the gurney. He gave us a thumbsup. He looked at his kid take a picture of me with the rink in the background. Reporter he was today to the hospital in burbank where his agent confirmed he died of a heart attack. These are pictures of him with his son robin thicke and his 19 yearold son carter. Shaken up. We felt bad for carter but we were trying to be light for him at the same time because we didnt think it was that crazy. Sco San Francisco supervisors have approved 9 million for a fund to make a local Community College tuition free. Under the plan, San Francisco residents would not have to pay tuition next year at the city of San Francisco but mayor lee is calling for a more limited program over a longer period. The funds would come from proposition w, a property sales tax increase approved by voters back in november. Some selfdriving cars should be picking up passengers in San Francisco starting today. And they are about to start picking up customers on the streets of San Francisco. So says derek kerr of cnet who broke the story. A launch like in pittsburgh, pennsylvania where customers just use the app and now theres a chance a driverless car will show up. The selfdriving cars will come i believe with a safety driver. In pittsburgh youre not alone in the car and i presume they will be doing the same sort of thing here in San Francisco. I think its cool. I would probably try it. The vehicles being used locally are volvo suvs. Meanwhile, googles self driving car program is shifting into a new gear. The Mountain View tech giant announced the project has grown into a Spinoff Company called waymo. Google will develop self driving technology. One of its Autonomous Cars took a legally blind passenger on a drive with no issues. A minnesota woman is thankful for strangers who came to her rescue. They helped pull her from an icy pond. Now a nearby Traffic Camera also captured it on camera. You can see the group rushing down to the water. The driver was able to smash part of the back window with a fire extinguisher. The Good Samaritans helped pull her out. Close your eyes. Glass. We pushed the rest of the glass out of the way and pulled her out of the vehicle. Just did what anybody else would have done. You see care in the water and theres somebody in there. The driver says that she could not see a ramp on the road when her windows fogged up. She has cuts and bruises but is expected to be okay. Right now, visibility is becoming an issue. We did see the bay bridge a little earlier. Now due to some of the condensation, some of the fog, being formed because of the warmer air mass due to the subtropical moisture thats working into the bay area overriding the cooler air mass we have the fog forming. Temperatures in the 50s across the board. Theres the scene. Heres what you need to know. Heres our satellite and radar. We do have the area of low pressure. It is stacked up out towards the gulf of alaska. This is the next area of low pressure that really is the subtropical plume that is generated and streams all the way back to the Hawaiian Islands so wind particle map is bring in the subtropical moisture and our winds blow today east and southeast 15 to 20 Miles Per Hour. As the low merges with the subtropical moisture thats when we see the rain develop. And, in fact, its slowing down now. Yesterday we had heavy rain. Now we think thursday morning before the morning commute we see rain confined to the north bay. There you have it, lunch hour periods of heavy rain and during two to four hours the heaviest rain so therefore, well have some ponding on the roadways especially when you couple that up with the king tides at high noon tomorrow at 6. 96 feet.
