The Public Communications is blamed for having a relationship that reveals a cozy relationship. It shows highlevel executives in direct communication with the company investigating the 2010 pipeline explosion that killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. There has been 7,000 pages of emails that demonstrate the process is corrupted and that the agency lost its ability to carry out mandated regulatory function as a watchdog for the public. Emails include suggestions how to side step a information request and conversations where pge appears to be giving pr advice. This is the subject of who will pay this fine . We are talking about billions of dollars. It is a game of Musical Chairs. For example, feds could level billions of dollars of fines. The state could come in and talk about a 2. 5 billion fine. They say it is not going to be paid by rate payers but by the shareholders. 80 of stock is held by institutions or Retirement Funds. We are talking about your Retirement Fund paying this fine. Exactly. People say okay, what about the executives themselves . The shareholders, somebody could file suit against the executives saying you mismanaged things and cost us money. Like a lot of big corporations, execs have insurance against such lawsuits. It is a Musical Chairs about who is paying for what levy stadium had the test for post game traffic flow. This is what it looked like after the earthquakes match with 50,000 fans lining up. All of this traffic was directed to threelane drive to eastbound highway 237. Less. It is worse. You think this is better . Yes. Last year it took me five hours. For me it is perfect. It is probably going to take us an hour and a half. It is worse than candle stick. Is that more or less than you expected . Definitely more. This is worse than candle stick. Sounds look it depends on where you parked before the match. A long line of cars tried to find a space on the fairway of the golf course. One woman tweeted this picture along with a couple expletives complaining about the traffic plan. Another viewer said he had not moved 30 minutes. We expect this growing pain with a new stadium trying to figure out who is coming from where and how to make this flow. It was going to be difficult from the getgo because of parking spread out among public and private lots. With any luck, theyll get the glitches worked out. When they open up for the real season there are will be more people in and out of the stadium firstofitskind Pilot Program take people from San Francisco to work at apple, facebook and google. Protesters blamed workers for raising the cost of living leading to evictions of low income tenants. They say tech workers should live closer to their job. Rather than displacing someone from their space transplanting them to somewhere they can not afford and then moving in. There needs to be more of a conversation between the two sides. Shuttles pay the city 3. 55 for each stop they make. The Pilot Program is expected to raise 3. 5 million. I dont know how much of the argument is about the shuttle buses or the impact tech had on San Franciscos Living Expenses speaking of the cost of living. Heres a rather extreme example. 527 moore street in San Francisco hit the market. Home cost 327,000. It is 266 square feet. It is a house wedged between the greenhouse and garden. Dimensions are roughly 22 x 12 feet. I dont know if that is a good deal. I would not buy it. Thats tiny. No separate bedroom. Just four walls to call their own i know a lot of my friends are saying when we retire we have families that need to get out of the city. You are not alone at all. Things are changing in the city. Today is Community Day at candle stick park. The last chance to visit the old stadium. It is a familyfriendly event running from 11 00 to 3 00 with carnival rides and food trucks and stadium tours. There has been talk with businesses and homes. Developers talking about putting in businesses and a shopper center there. Which was the original idea for the candle stick to replace it with a shopping center. It will be big housing and a new neighborhood and shopping center. Apart from the parking mess at the stadium we mentioned earlier what were peoples First Impressions after we got inside. We talked to fans and got their reaction. Reporter before the first whistle blew the critiques were coming in. Not of the inaugural games but of the muchhyped stadium itself. I think it is great. It is a beautiful football stadium. It is gorgeous. It is beautiful. It is a nice facility reporter sure there is the action on the field. But many fans admitted they came to be among the first to test out the 49ers new world class facility ahead of the first football game. I want to see the restaurants. I want to see the vending areas. I want to see the seats. The view from the seats. They say you dont have a bad seat in the house reporter from the seats to the restrooms. There are so many stalls. No lines. Reporter to the food, which was in a word. Expensive. 5 for a water. Was the beer worth 10 . I guess so. Thats what youll pay at a game reporter one of the most talked about features is the stadium app instead of waiting in a long line you can order food on your phone for a fee. There is a 5 fee reporter curt is one of the first to use the stadium app to jump the line at the snack bar. While in line i downloaded the app, went to the front of the line and got any food. Ill give it a ten. Im just in awe of this place. We have a lot coming up. Bay bridge still has problems. State senator says people need to be held accountable. A hearing is set for fuse at the State Capitol to figure out what went wrong with the construction of the new eastern span of the bay bridge. It still inned up with problems like broken bolts. Officials overseeing construction deliberately brushed off concern about the work and there was a pattern of secrecy throughout the project. How serious are the latest allegations and should we be concerned about the Structural Integrity of the bridge . Joining us is mark from sits on the Senate Transportation committee. It has certainly been a fascinates re. What are your takes on this . There are two reports. We have had eight hearings. They are still in denial. We had nine where this bridge was being fabricated and raised questions about the quality of work there, nine separate incidents of it. What happened . These are nine individuals all very well respected. They were told not to put it in writing and move on and accept the work. And their response to this has been . We have learned lessons from this. We should be more open but lets move on. I dont think its sufficient. Bealways hear the words move on. They say it is structurally sound and it is safe. One is why is it 5 million more and how much are we going to continue to pay for it so to speak. In your opinion the workers and engineers that raised questions about the integrity of the work, are they small things that were being debated back and forth between caltrans . It is about the integrity of the people who pay the money, toll payers and taxpayers. They didnt want to public to know what was going on on the bridge because it was a mess. The budget is way over and continued maintenance on this bridge. It has almost been a year and every day you see work trucks still out there. Its more than that, its the maintenance over the next decade. How much will the toll payers have to pay that werent anticipated because at least the allegations caltrans accepted faulty work. And you have your reporters and other reports that say the tests on the bolts that snapped and the rest of the bolts turn out to be okay. So what is the public supposed to believe . It is hard. You have to have a leap of faith from everybody that told you it was all right. The bolts, they were told not to accept them. They accepted them and then there was discussion about how at risk they were. They put them out in the rain for five years and it broke. They said it only cost 5 million to fix it. It seems to be a firing squad situations where everybody is to blame for part of it. It seems to be the conclusion caltrans got. Everybody was partially to blame. Everybody had some step in this process. You cant just point at one person and say its your fault, right . Thats right. I was on when we voted to do this design. We were told it was a mistake 20 however many years ago. It was a very radical design. A lot of people think its beautiful. It sort of started everything looking back on it. What will we hear tuesday . I think well hear very compelling testimony about what they did when thaw talk today they talked to people. Well hear from seven engineers that looked at it and well hear caltrans response. Do any of these rise to the level of wrong doing or criminal wrong doing . I said when we were done we would turn it over to the attorney general. I think with everything in the report there should be a criminal investigation. The secretary of Transportation Agency has i think correctly asked chp to look into it. I really think the u. S. Prosecutor should look into it. Why . Because of allegations. There are allegations that we broke contracts. We tried to hide the truth from the public. We paid contractors before they were supposed to get paid. All of those things bring there a lot of questions. We had one investigators look at this. We need more resources to look at what happened. If you keep shedding a light on it someone will respond. Thank you for joining us. I guess well see you in sacramento on tuesday. We will. Thank you. Thank you. Back to you. With the Golden Gate Bridge in 1930 promises then said when we pay off the bonds in 1989 youll be free to cross the bridge. Thats one of the reasons voters approved the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. I dont know if you noticed, its not free to cross the bridge. As we look at the numbers outside the bay area it is 62 oakland and 58 in San Francisco. Things never really change do they . 55 in santa rosa. All of that being churned up. It translated downtown. It will be slightly humid today as we get that subtropical flow. It provides a perfect corridor to funnel that moisture in over Northern California over the next few days. Youre beginning to see high clouds. Numbers are coming down as sea breeze increases because of the presence of that low. Temperatures inland. The movie star and former governer is now 67 years ol anne and i sat down with fo San Francisco mayor willie n for his take on schwarzenes legacy in the happy birthday to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yeah. She turning 67 years old. Still looking pretty good. We sat down with willie brown for advertise take on schwarzeneggers years in the state. How would you sum up his years . Arnold schwarzenegger is a very good friend. He was a friend before he was governor, a friend during the time he was governor and during the time after. You cant exactly count me as objective. I happen to think however arnold moved the needle on governorship. He extended the opportunity. He is now the cheer justice a person of color. Chief justice named by arnold. He replicated that and on the question of whether or not substantive items were addressed he won some and he lost some. It is some times as a result of people really having differences of opinion about the public expenditure. In arnolds case it was a difference of opinion. That difference of opinion however has a lot to do with salesmanship and how you sell it to the public. When it came to politics he had hits and misses. He was great at movies. Rather than being able to do something about it he went and said he was going to what . Kick the nurses behinds and he wound up caving. You have to understand he was an inexperienced politician, period. He was a great actor and great marketing person but when it comes to the business of sitting down and actually going across he didnt understand politicians misrepresent many times. I have to say as a journalist it was awfully fun to cover him. You never knew what was going to come out of his mouth. Yes. He wasnt a politician. He was never guarding against image. He is back. He is in his fourth or fifth movie. He just finished terminator six or seven down in new orleans. He is back in town about to consider doing another movie. He is okay. Speaking of his legacy though i think its going to be hard for a lot of people to forget about that affair. I mean this was not just a normal stepping out on your wife. It was in front of her face four years with the maid. I think thats all behind everybody. She has moved on. She is back doing television and specials. Yeah. He is back doing the things that he does best on the movie side of the world. No body except you mentioned it. I dont think im the only one. You did stump him on that one. I think youre right. He is arnolds friend. Still to come the area Water Districts moving to encourage conservation. Well tell you about new plans coming up. , you say, tomato. Old el paso says.
