Good morning. I am reed cowan. Lets look at this mornings top stories and we begin on the east coast where a manhunt for an escaped convict in pennsylvania has ended. State police say they have finally captured Danelo Cavalcante , two weeks after about 500 members of Law Enforcement were searching for him in a heavily wooded area. In recent days, police say Danelo Cavalcante stole a. 22 caliber rifle from a homeowners garage and stole a dairy farm van which he ditched in a field. The felon escaped Chester County prison on august 31st and sentenced to life for murdering his girlfriend. A bay area serial killer and former cop who was on death row in san quentin is that. Officals say 79yearold anthony silly died of Natural Causes friday. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 1986 for the brutal murders of five women and one man during a sixmonth period in 1983. He was born in San Francisco and grew up in millbrae where he served as a police officer. Right now his exact cause of death has yet to be released. More than 180,000 Cal State University students could see their tuition going up starting next year. Csu trustees began the meeting to vote on a set of controversial tuition hikes. The proposal will raise tuition by about 6 every year for five years in a row. Drill down on the numbers and that means by the 20282029 school year, tuition would be nearly 2000 more per semester. The proposal is not popular on campus. It will be a lot of stress on the students. A lot of stress on students parents, especially if students are living with parents. There are a lot of factors to think about. To settle the students with greater financial burden is unconscionable. The cal state faculty and Student Association are adamantly opposed to the hikes and so is the states lieutenant governor. The trustees argue that rates will stay the same for 11 of the past 12 years in the need the coverage for the rising costs. At home we have a heads up if you ride the San Francisco bay ferry. The main street alameda station will shut down for repairs. Work will start october 23rd and is supposed to finish by the end of the year with service resuming january 2nd. Repairs include seismic safety upgrades and some redesigns to allow future use of zero emission vehicles. You will have to use the oakland Ferry Terminal instead.
