Now as we take a quick look at the Clear Conditions its not going to last for too much longer weekend. The weekend forecast, we have big changes. A cold front is on the way in and timing this cold front out, its going to be very interesting because it will be leading up into the weekend forecast once again. But take a look at this. Dry days for us today and tomorrow and lasting into thursday. Once we head into friday evening a cold front approaches in from the north and thats going to drop our temperatures down from 80s just by wednesday all the way into the 50s heading into this weekend. So a big change not only with rain and wind, but were also going to see some gusty conditions too. More about that coming up in just a bit. Another thing i want to mention though, it is allergy season still. And were in the medium to high category until friday. Before that cold front moves its way in. When it comes to our pollen count and just take it slow out there. And give yourself that extra water and that extra loving care if you start to notice your allergies kicking in. Now we are going to keep a close eye on that and talk more about the rainfall too. Because great news, above average throughout most of the bay area with the exception of the east bay but the system thats moving in this weekend could really help out that number at 98 already which isnt bad. But we can get a little bit closer to 100 of average right around the corner. Now over to you, nicole. All right, thank you, jessica. Not much going on this morning on the freeways as we start by taking a live look at the golden gate bridge. Looks empty here. Well see a car or two drive by every couple of minutes. But it is an easy drive coming in from marin county into the city. Over at the bay bridge now, metering lights are off for now. Definitely a bit more cars there compared to the golden gate bridge. It shouldnt be an issue if you plan on going across within the next half hour. And how about a quick check over in hayward at the san mateo bridge . Smooth conditions in both directions. So a nice drive to start this tuesday. Reed . Well, dozens of firefighters are watching for hotspots this morning following a raging fire at a warehouse in hayward. In fact look at this video. Their main focus was just to keep the fire from spreading to other buildings. But now hours later at the aftermath. This is near hall road there and you can see the outside of that warehouse blackened there with the openings are where the flames shot out and it looks like they still have some smokecoming out of this. Thats why you see firefighters there keeping watch on the left side of the screen all about keeping the hotspots mopped up. And the building we understand housed an insulation business. So far no word on the extent of damage. But luckily, no injuries were reported. Crews theyll be there today to look into the cause of the fire. Looking live over San Francisco. Thats a view of the city from Treasure Island. Lot of those Office Buildings you see are a headline this morning. According to a commercial real estate firm, 36 of the citys office space sits empty and unused. And thats an alltime high. You know, some blame the postpandemic rise of remote work. But mayor london breed wants to turn all that empty space into pretty much anything but offices. One small Downtown Business tells our kelsi thorud that cant happen fast enough. Reporter s ooh ge mediterranean has been here at the corner of pine and builden in the financial district since 2018. Manager Nancy Madrigal says when they first snagged this location, they were exscattic. This is store number four. So it was pretty busy. Reporter nancy says they would have lines out the door during the weekday lunch rush but then of course, the pandemic hit. Its definitely not the same as before. [ laughter ] reporter nancy says even all these years later, since the peak of covid, the crowds just arent coming back. Out of the five days we might have two good days. Reporter sage isnt alone. So many businesses continue to struggle especially those downtown. The trend towards work from home has gutted many highrises in the area. Taking away a huge chunk of these restaurants clientele. That is why mayor breed and several other city officials are pushing the state to pass laws that will make it easier to turn those vacant spaces into housing or other mixed use venues. President and ceo of the San Francisco chamber of commerce rodney fong says hes fully on board with the mayors vision. I think covid taught us not to necessarily put all of our eggs in one basket and San Francisco has the luxury of being able to try to diversify itself which i think mayor by going to sacramento is trying to do to expedite and create insentives for people to take chances and be creative in the great downtown. Reporter back at sage, nancy told me she too likes the idea of getting more people into downtown and just hopes those people will visit her restaurant as much as those did before. Improving either housing or more work offices around the area will improve our business a lot. Now taking a live look outside on this tuesday morning. You feeling in the mood for some jewelry, lead . Look at today. Ooh. Its beautiful out there. I cant say it enough. We are in for a good day today and jess we cant say the same for the friends in the south though. Oh my gosh. Check this out. What texas has been dealing all week is wild. The hail was coming down jed and the sky in mesquite, texas got pummeled while trying to throw a cover over his car, tornadoes and heavy winds were in the forecast all throughout the afternoon hours. And all that storm and that storm actually is supposed to continue throughout the forecast today for them. Theres likely even to be more hail and flooding as well. This is a sight to see. Keep in mind, this was just yesterday as they were trying to see the path of totality for the Solar Eclipse. But instead, those were the skies that they were dealing with. Lets head back to our skies real fast though. Clear for us this morning. Clear for us this afternoon. And we talked about this a little bit earlier but think its worth noting a bit more right now as we take a look at the rainfall versus average for the season, as of this week, were still sitting well above average when it comes to areas like San Francisco and all the way up into santa rosa. Thanks to a really heavy, wet season that we just got out of. And were still seeing more rain actually and were seeing a similar trend down into the Santa Clara Valley. Im actually very impressed and san jose sitting over 15 inches close to 16 and were expecting more rain late this week as a cold front approaches but that cold front is not here just yet and thank goodness honestly. I mean were talking about upper 60s today near San Francisco. 70s near oakland. And upper 70s all the way off near concord and antioch. Now the thing thats interesting about the forecast for us heading into in next couple of days and i want to pull up the map and kind of explain this. That cold front is going to move in and were all going to be sitting pretty much handinhand in the 50s but for now you still see that very big temperature spread along the coast with low 60s near halfmoon bay in the east bay where if you were to drive an hour, okay, with traffic lets be honest, like an hour 45. All the way into areas like antioch thats the temperature spread in the inland areas versus the coast. But down into the Santa Clara Valley we go were also in the upper 70s this afternoon and continue to warm up in the inland areas into the 80s as we head into our forecast tomorrow. Lasting all the way into thursday. Heres whats happening. High pressure is moving its way in. Its drying us up and its warming us up and thats the case for us heading into in next couple of days. By friday though, thats when were gearing up for the cold front. Temperatures dip all the way down into the 60s at that point and another ten degree drop on saturday. Rainy skies and cooler temperatures and some gusty conditions ahead of it. Well have more on that in a bit. For now over to you, nicole. All right. Take overview look at the bay area roadways. Not much happening so far this morning which is always nice to report. Although a few trouble spots so far starting off on southbound 680 in pleasanton. We see some slow bumpertobumper traffic here. This is in the pocket and area even though there are not reports of a crash over here, so well check back in if this remains to be a hotspot this morning. And for supercommuters at the altamont pass, always a slow drive in on the early hours for those leaving tracy. So just plan accordingly as this will feel like a slow drive you see all the red there on the map. Caltrans is expected to start emergency repairs today to that scenic stretch of highway 1 in big sur after a portion of the highway collapsed into the sea. Crews plan to start drilling vertical anchors into the southbound lane of the highway near the rocky creek bridge.
