Delta and airport Officials Say they are now investigating. Wow 4 45. It is the season for bad weather and that means flight delays. San francisco International Airport has a new plan though to get things moving along. When the skies are clear, airplanes at sfo often land two at a time on parallel runways but when visibility is poor, one plane lands at a time. All the others are putting in a holding pattern. This changes next summer according to the faa. It will allow aircraft not side by side but staggered from one another to come in using both runways. With this change well be able to arrive 35 to 37 per hour, an improvement. The number of delayed flights at sfo is up 10 in the last decade. Also the number of canceled flights has doubled, as well. Me thinks the rain might have something to do with slowing down those planes in the next few days. That would be nice if they fix that. We have been in those chase in before so we know what its about. More delays probably this morning because of all the rainfall that just off the coast. Check out you hidef doppler. We are about to get slammed with a cold front moving onshore. The heavier bands still off the coastline but it wont be long now its going to be coming onshore just in time for the commute. Also along the coastline you will notice the purple. Those are the high Wind Warnings that are in effect. We could see gusts 55 to 65 Miles Per Hour, maybe even some 75mileanhour gusts right over the tops of the mountains. So definitely a problem, could bring down some trees and some power lines and we could have some Power Outages this morning. Wouldnt be surprised to see lightning embedded as the cold front moves by. Rain moving through with a strong gusty wind and then turning to showers by the afternoon. We are probably going to see some sunny breaks so not a whole day event. But theres more storms lining up in the pacific. Heres the first one right here just about to make its way onshore. That will move through this morning. The storm door is open. We have a series of storms lining up there. One behind it and another one behind that. I think that one that companies through on sunday, that could be the one that causes flooding problems as a series of storms continues to pound the bay area. So things are going to be wet and wild to start out this morning. If you are heading out the door you leave right now not too bad in most spots. But its only going to be pick up and getting worse through the middle of the morning and looks like that main cold front even 11 00 still lingers across the bay area and moves out toward the afternoon and then turning more towards showers as we head toward thursday and then your next event comes in by thursday evening. This one going to bring with it heavy rainfall across the bay area. By the time we have counted it up, maybe almost a foot of rain in some of the wettest spots. So this is going to be a soaker over the next few days. From this storm system not the wettest one but it probably will be the windiest. A lot of rain maybe near an inch in the north bay mountains, otherwise the winds will be the big concern as we are seeing strong gusty winds at the coastline. You start to see reds and picks up and purples, thats 40 to 50 mileperhour gusts so windy as it moves by. Temperatures in the 60s. Next couple of days it is going to turn to showers too many then more rain expected overnight thursday night into friday. Showers on saturday. Then strong Stormy Weather once again moves in on sunday. Elizabeth . Then monday we can all relax. I hope so. Thanks, lawrence.
