In germany this morning, at least one person was killed when a knifewielding man started stabbing people at a munich area railway station. Police say the suspect attacked four passengers with a knife at a station east of munich. A suspect is under arrest. Its also reported the assailant shouted a phrase that means god is great during the attack. A string of tornadoes that swept across the plains left at least two people dead. A tornado emergency was declared in parts of oklahoma. At least 12 tornadoes were reported yesterday in oklahoma, kansas, nebraska, and iowa. Eric fischer, chief meteorologist of our boston station wbz, is following this Severe Weather system. Reporter unfortunately, a deadly day of weather kicked off the week here, especially across the plains. Notice a large number of tornado reports. Over a dozen of them. What was different between this outbreak and a couple that really didnt live up to maybe the expectations earlier on this season, a strong push of westerly winds. We had more wind shear to work with and some really dramatic tornados that formed. As we look forward, were watching another area of storms fire up through this afternoon and evening, especially reaching down into texas, as well as over toward the ohio valley. Thats our tuesday. Another piece of energy is going to swing out on wednesday. Were going to watch those thunderstorms refire across especially parts of the midwest. So our tuesday outlook, from del rio toward austin, this may extend toward dallas. A chance of large hail and isolated tornadoes. Not expecting it to be as active as what we saw on monday. Also keep an eye on the lower ohio river valley. Wednesday looks like its going to be a busier day for us. Well be watching places like st. Louis, down through springfield, tulsa, kansas city. Reporter deadly tornadoes tore through southern oklahoma monday afternoon and evening. Multiple homes were damaged or destroyed in garvin county, where an elderly man was killed. It looks like its completely level. Reporter People Living nea wynnewood returned to find their homes in pieces. The twisters leveled barns and homes, snapped tree limbs, and flipped vehicles. Forecasters say millions of people are still in the path of potentially violent weather. Don champion, cbs news. Well, alberta, canada, Officials Say most of canadas main oil city of Fort Mcmurray has been spared from a massive wildfire, but two neighborhoods were all but wiped out. Its estimated some 2400 homes and other buildings were incinerated. It will be weeks before some 80,000 evacuated residents will be able to return. There is no gas, power, and the water is undrinkable. Today republicans hold primaries in nebraska and West Virginia, but the real fireworks may come the day after tomorrow when donald trump is scheduled to meet with Republican Leaders in washington amid escalating tensions. Many are not on board with trump as the gop nominee. His meeting with House Speaker paul ryan could be particularly awkward. Trump said he was blind sided when ryan said he was withholding his endorsement of trump. Ryan says he would relinquish his role as chairman of the Republican National convention if thats what trump wants. Democrats hold a primary in West Virginia, and Bernie Sanders is telling supporters the race is not over. Thousands gathered to hear sanders at a rally in sacramento last night. They cheered sanders but booed Hillary Clinton when sanders talked about her support of the iraq war. Now, secretary clinton was then senator from new york state. She heard the same evidence as i did. She voted for that disastrous war. North carolina has raised the stakes in its fight with the federal government over transgender rights. As Omar Villafranca reports from raleigh, the governor is nowhere close to backing down. Reporter u. S. Attorney general Loretta Lynch took the podium to say the state of North Carolina had violated federal laws. They created statesponsored discrimination against transgender individuals who simply seek to engage in the most private of functions in a place of safety and security, a right taken for granted by most of us. Reporter governor pat mccrory filed his own lawsuit, accusing the federal government of overreaching its authority. We believe a core, rather than a federal agency, should tell our state, our nation, and employers across the country what the law requires. Reporter the doj sent a letter to North Carolina officials last week and warned them that if the state didnt comply, the government could withhold billions of federal dollars earmarked for the tarheel state. That included 1. 4 billion going to the unc school system. Hb2, known as the bathroom bill, said transgender people had to use restrooms based on the gender on their birth certificate. The debate sparked heat the protests, but the measure sailed through the legislature and was signed into law. Dozens of corporations condemned the law.
