But what if life on the inside resemibles life on the outside . Creating better citizens before they are neighbors. A norwegian program being tested at selena valley state prison works to do just that. We do have a lot of violence on this yard. Fights, violence, murder just a month and a half ago. They did cpr on a guy out here on the yard and he was pronounced dead. The guards get to know them and play games and take them for long walks. It is still a far cry from the norwegian model where inmates live in cells described as dorms and the prisoners have state of the art amenities, including a recording studio. There are no plans for anything like that here any time soon. The program is still in its infancy. For now, borla and his team are focusing on what they can do with the little they have, adding more classes and activities. The prison says it has already seen a decline in one key measure, attempted suicides. More importantly, prisoners say they have noticed a difference. Because they believe if you do that, thats when the healing begins and hopefully resitivism goes down as well. Human beings behind bars working to be better human beings. Otherwise, nice weather. Changes in store for the next couple of days. High pressure will come in from the north. It will squeeze the atmosphere. There is clockwise air around the pressure and counterclockwise air in the upper levels of the atmosphere. There is no rain there but it means off shore winds for the bay area over the next couple of days. Strongest in the highest elevations of the north bay and east bay hills. The mild weather sticks around for the next couple of days. The off shore winds means sunshine and reducing the influence on the coast but still cooler on the coast. We are starting this evening with tracking the winds. As we head through the night, the winds pick up around napa to fairfield, around 20 to 25 miles per hour. You can see the arrows show the direction of the winds. The gusts will be in the Higher Elevations and up to the north, just outside of our bay area counties. The winds remain noticeable tomorrow night into wednesday. This type of set up would orderinarily leave us to be worried about a fire threat but we got the rain late last week. That added a nice amount of moisture to the vegetation which is something we can measure with Energy Release component. It is a dryness index. We want to be at the bottom of the chart. Sevenday forecast shows temperatures going down a little bit after wednesday but just a return to near normal temperatures on thursday, friday, and over the weekend. Passing clouds late this week but no rain chances out of the clouds yet. Monday brings us more substantial cloud cover and a chance for a few showers on monday night but it is the last day of the sevenday forecast. There is a lot that could change between now and then.
