The combination of high winds, heavy snow and blowing seawater left some towns along the massachusetts coast a frozen icy mess with downed power lines, collapsed roofs and blownout windows. Flight recorders recovered from the wreckage reveal the copilot was flying the plane just before the crash. The more experienced captain took over the controls after the trouble began. The plane was cruising at 32,000 feet when it wobbled and veered left in a matter of seconds climbed to more than 237,000 feet. That quick change in elevation caused the plane to stall and dive towards the java sea. All 162 people onboard died. Malaysias government officially declared this morning that Malaysia Airlines flight 370 went down by accident. The plane disappeared last month with 239 people onboard. Malaysias chief of Civil Aviation says all the passengers are now assumed to be dead. He says the search for the plane is still a priority. The declaration clears the way for victims family to get compensation. Health officials in arizona are tracking more than 1,000 people this morning who may have been exposed to the measles. And that includes nearly 200 children. Arizona is ordering anyone exposed to the virus without the flu vaccine dosage to be quarantined for three weeks. There are at least 95 cases of the measles in ten states. Most of them are in california and can be traced back to the disneyland resort. It became obvious to me that while it was wellintentioned it was having the wrong effect on the culture here at uva. New evidence about a link between common household chemicals found cosmetics and plastics and the early onset of menopause. Research finds the effect on womens hormones could accelerate by upper to nearly four years putting women at risk for a range of health problems. Our doctor is in los angeles with the latest. David, good morning to you. Listen no woman i know wants early menopause. What kind of chemicals are you talking about and what are the dangers they cause . Normally biology dictates when menopause happen. The study looked at over 100 chemicals, they found 15 when higher menopause happens earlier. Year by year a sixfold higher chance of being in menopause if you find levels of these in the blood. Important to note this study is association, not causality. Its important to realize this finding is could change our lives. David, many of these chemicals have been banned in the United States for a long time because of their toxicity. And dangers to our health. So why are these still prevalent . Interesting. Most have been banned in the 70s, yet theyre still there. They last for many, many years in the environment and over a decade in our blood. Some of them including a class called phthalates are still used to soften plastic.
