I said youve got to get out. The tornado is right there. About 100 miles northeast of owensboro, hail and rain flooded streets and back yards. The Severe Weather is connected with the system that spawned violent tornadoes across southern oklahoma on monday killing two people and leveling several homes. Brook carter was relieved her mother managed to survive. She made it out alive. Our neighbor didnt, but were really glad we have her. So all this stuff can be replaced. Back here in mayfield, those violent winds tossed cars around like they were childrens toys. Look at this car stacked right on top of this truck. Anna, thanks. Two more primary wins bring donald trump closer to clinching the republican president ial nomination. Trump received 61 of the vote in nebraska yesterday and 77 in West Virginia. Cbs news estimates trump is less than 150 delegates short of a majority. Trump is getting ready for a unity meeting tomorrow with gop leaders in washington. Major garrett is on capitol hill. Major, good morning. Reporter good morning. Several prominent Congressional Republicans are still straddling the donald trump fence. House speaker paul ryan, ted cruz and to a lesser extent marco rubio. Still, other hill republicans have begun the slow migration toward trump, and thats a process he hopes to accelerate tomorrow with ryan. I would like to see unity in the party. Presumptive nominee said thursdays meeting with ryan might create new possibilities. I have a lot of respect for paul, and i think were going to have a very good meeting. I hope. I think he loves this party, he loves this country, and he wants to see something good happen. I want to have a conversation with him oneonone. Ryan said he was still looking for clarity. There are some critical principles that we all believe in as conservatives that we just want to make sure were all rallying around those principles as we move forward. Representative chris collins, one of trumps early supporters in Congress Said ryans decision not to endorse has had a chilling effect. I would admit for a week or so it has frozen some things. They can all be unfrozen thursday or a week from thursday. Imagine, we thought we would still be fighting for 10 more weeks. Do you think youre ahead of the game. Were 10 weeks ahead of the game. Thats huge. Returning to his day job, texas senator ted cruz refused to utter trumps name or offer an endorsement. There will be plenty of time for voters to make the determination who they are going to support. Florida senator marco rubio, another vanquished trump rival sounded equally vague. Thats just the fact. Hes now the presumptive nominee. That said, it doesnt change what i said in the past. I stand by those things. If donald trump is our nominee, it will fracture the Republican Party. Reporter meaning rubio is not backing away from this. What hes trying to carry out is a scam. If we nominate donald trump well lose. A con artist will never get control of this party. Reporter but still said he would back the nominee. I signed a pledge, put my name on it and said i would support the republican nominee and thats what i tend to do. Proof positive trump knows how to play the guessing game. Indeed, major. Thank you very much. Another primary win for Bernie Sanders is prolonging democratic race. His victory doesnt change Hillary Clintons overall lead but one more bump in her path to the general election. Sanders beat clinton by 15 points, 51 to 36 . Cbs news estimated he earned at least 16 delegates and she got at least 11. Clinton needs another 144 to clinch the nomination. Nancy cordes in louisville, kentucky, where the democratic frontrunner could face more obstacles in next weeks primary. Nancy, good morning. Good morning. Thats right. Oregon is up next tuesday. Its progressive mostly white state where sanders typically does very well. He was there celebrating his West Virginia win last night. So the clinton camp is putting more time, more money into this state, kentucky, which also votes next week and where clinton won in a landslide last time around. Weve won a big, big victory in West Virginia. Sanders capitalized tuesday on opposition to clinton that runs so deep in West Virginia, 43 of sanders voters said they will defect to trump in the fall if clinton is the nominee. Its a massive shift in a state clinton won by about 41 points in 2008. But this time, her record on free trade hurt her, and so did this recent slip up. Were going to put a lot of coal miners and Coal Companies out of business. Clintons repeated apologies did not heal the wound. That is not what i intended at all. Reporter she could run into the same problem next week. Kentucky is the Third Largest coal mining state in the country. But its also her next chance to stop a sanders mini streak. Hello, louisville. Reporter though she barnstormed the state on tuesday and began running ads here. Shes the one who will make a real difference for you. Reporter the white house has tried to stay neutral in the primary but Vice President joe biden weighed in tuesday on clintons behalf. I feel confident hillary will be the nominee and i feel confident shell be the next president. Sanders insisted clinton is still beatable, even though she only needs to win about 13 of the delegates in the remaining eight state contests. Let me be as clear as i can be, we are in this campaign to win the democratic nomination. Reporter its easy to see why his supporters are still hoping against hope. Sanders has now won nearly as many states as clinton has. 19 states to her 23. Its just that her states have been bigger and she won some of those big states by large margins putting the delegates he needs, charlie, virtually out of reach. Thanks, nancy. Cbs news political director face the nation moderator john dixon in washington. Good morning. Good morning, charlie. Exactly what is it donald trump must do to get the speaker, paul ryan, on board. Well, its a twoway street, of course. Im not sure. The central challenge is usually what happens in these unity moments is that both sides feel each other out and recognize that Going Forward they are going to have the same instincts. But donald trump and paul ryan have totally different positions and instincts on issues like trade, immigration, entitlement, taxes, tone. Those are the big issues. What worries paul ryan and some other republicans is that donald trump is unpredictable. He loves being unpredictable and that makes them nervous. He won the primaries in their party. He won the primaries. Hell win the nomination. He sure did. Theres no question about that. They have their own both political future to think about. The primaries arent the entire electorate. The electorate is different now. Secondarily they do have those ideas that they believe in, and they just are in a totally different place than donald trump. They may be able to have a unity moment. What they worry about is what does it look like as this Campaign Goes forward. Can they stay in sync. Do they have any Common Ground, john . They have Common Ground in that they dont want to see Hillary Clinton be president. They want to see conservatives on the supreme court. Is that enough, given how far apart they are on the issues and also on tone. Remember that paul ryan came out and spoke out several times against or about things donald trump said about muslims, about white supremacists, so this goes pretty deep. You know, john, one of the most interesting stories today is what Hillary Clinton said yesterday, that shes willing to support medicare buyin for those 50 and older. Is that exactly what Bernie Sanders staying in the race does, pushes Hillary Clinton to the left . It does, although, you know, well see. Shields well have to see how the fight goes with donald trump but yes, thats part of the primary process. John dickerson, thank you for joining us today. Were following breaking news in baghdad where isis claims one of three car bombs this morning. Amateur video claims to show the aftermath in sadr city that killed at least 63 people. Two more bombings in baghdad left at least 22 dead. Controversy whether facebook censors news, scrutiny from powerful republican senator. Former employees claimed the social network blocked stories in the trending section. John thune called the accusations serious. Good morning. Good morning. Senator thune, hes raising a number of questions. Facebook has launched its own investigation into whether it kind of filtered out these conservative topics. Interestingly, this is controversy actually trended for much of the day on facebook yesterday. So keep an open mind. In this video posted last month, facebook encouraged users to seek out opposing points of view. When maybe, just maybe, its a good time to search for them to find the other side of the story. Reporter but south dakota senator john thune is worried the cuff side is being suppressed on social network. In a letter sent to facebook tuesday, the south dakota senator asked if they were filtered. Consumers have rights and we want to make sure were protecting consumers rights and they arent engaging in deceptive practice. Gizmodo said facebook employs curators for stories based on algorithm. They select stories that become facebook trending topics. We have evidence of them blacklisting, in a lot of cases, conservative news. Whats a particular story they blacklisted. Well, the cpac conference, for instance, as that was going on, that was not allowed to trend. In a statement Facebook Says we will keep reviewing our practices around trending topics f we find they are inadequate, we will take immediate steps to fix them. Theres a real fear that facebook could actually control the way people think. Cbs news contributor said the controversy could reinforce a perception problem facebook already had among conservatives. Its founder and chairman Mark Zuckerberg has recently taken position supporting samesex marriage, Immigration Reform and black lives matter. If republicans leave facebook, thats terrible for facebook. They cant afford to alienate the party that controls congress. That perception problem, that is really the issue. Theres Nothing Congress can do. Media companies are protected by first amendment. They are not obligated to Tell Congress why they pick the stories they choose. Facebook is denying the allegations. It can filter its stories however they want. People have the choice whether to use it or not. Something tells me it will be trending again today. Thank you very much, jan.
