Kron4s Lydia Pantazes reports from san ramon where there are already more than two dozen landslides. pkg it was after the rain, after a couple of the storms, and it just got progressively bigger and bigger. Bonnie davey is talking about a landslide near her home. Its near Bollinger Canyon road. Its directly in front of this condo. It started out as a very small crack. A landslide that bonnie and her neighbors have seen grow. I happened to be out on my balcony about six weeks ago and it just fell. San ramon city Officials Say its between 70 to 80 feet wide. But this is just one of more than two dozen slides throughout the city. This one on windermere is twice the size of the one near Bollinger Canyon and near a road. Once we saw it we took some prompt action to cover that one because it occurred early in the season and it got a lot more rain on it. City officials also had to install a cement barrier to prevent debris from spilling onto the road. But it isnt just in san ramon. Nearby danville also has its fair share of slides, like this one near black hawk plaza. But city officials in san ramon say at this point none of the ones within city limits pose an imminent threat. They are more a threat if they are left untreated. The problem is that repairs cant begin until the area has had time to dry out. That could take months. In the meanwhile. We have our own city staff who is available should there be a problem. We have two on call contractors who can respond on short notice if needed. While the city isnt worried. Neighbors who have seen these slides grow are a little more concerned. We need to mark it off, someone needs to come out here and do something.
