( james ) after a 15 -hour police standoff, a shooting suspect is in custody this morning in san francisco.( tiffany ) we first started covering this story yesterday as it developed right here on the kron four morning news. kron four's justine waldman has the latest. sot it is shocking news the police presence was massiveas police photographed evidence, neighbors looked out on their once quite street.at 15th between beaver and castro ..just before midnight, police came to this house responding to a shooting.david pactor, has lived across from the house for 40 years.and says while the elderly woman who lived here was nice, police have been here at least a half a dozen times.sot this house had a lot of problems and police had been here numerous times but no one knew what was going onthis time, officers found the elderly woman with a gunshot wound.she later died at the hospital.the male suspect refused to leave the house .police evacuated the neighborhood.and brought in the bomb squad and hostage negotiators.around 3 in the afternoon, the suspect left the house and was taken into custody.police found he had shot himself in the chest. police / sot no use of force by officers 14 15 hours of neg with suspect who finally gave up after self-inflicted gun shotthe evidence markers were left by what looks like black clothes, keys and a wallet. there is broken glass on the driveway.and what looks like a walker by the front door.now neighbors are left wondering what went wrongsot my prayers are with the family of the deceased woman ( tiffany ) new this morning... a man is robbed at gunpoint at an east bay bart station. the thieves are still on the loose. the robbery happened around 8:00 last night at the fruitvale station.(áááátriggerááá) the victim says he was sitting in his car in the parking lot when two people walked up... pointed a gun at him and demanded money. the man said he did not have any money so the thieves took his cell phone and ran off. the victim was not injured. ( tiffany ) hayward police are investigating a murder after a man was found dead inside a motel room. it happened yesterday afternoon at the motel six on industrial parkway southwest. (ááátriggerááá) officers found a 44-year-old man dead as soon as they arrived. the death is being investigated as a homicide. the identity of the man is not being released at this time. this is the fourth homicide of the year in hayward. ( james ) a man is under arrest this morning, accused of setting a series of fires in downtown palo alto. this is a story we first told you about on friday on kron four news. the suspect is 23-year-old terry lee hill junior. police say, he matched the suspect captured on surveillance video. palo alto police say, there were four fires set last friday morning. one damaged a car. another was in a dumpster and burned just about everything inside. ( tiffany ) another big story: scorching temperatures on the way this week.. we've already seen multiple fires break out yesterday around the bay area. take a look -- this is a grass fire that sparked along highway -24 in orinda. firefighters were able to get a handle on it before it spread. ( tiffany ) and in napa county -- a brush fire burned five acres yesterday afternoon. the flames broke out near atlas peak road, northeast of the silverado resort and spa. no buildings were damaged and a firefighter suffered minor injuries. ( tiffany ) and a grass fire in san jose burned not too far from homes.. the flames broke out on communications hill. firefighters were able to get a handle on it before it spread to any buildings. ( james ) a well known yoga instructor in the sacramento area has died. it reportedly happened while practicing a controversial meditation technique.( tiffany ) ali wolf has details on the death and how aaron pappas is being remembered this morning. inside akasha yoga in davis... there is a shrine dedicated to a beloved teacher..monday afternoon the studio closed early so teachers and students could spend the evening mourning the death of aaron pappas..(jamie testa - owner, akasha yoga)"its been incredibly sad but its also been incredibly beautiful and amazing to see how many lives aaron touched"akasha yoga's owner jamie testa says in the days since pappasú death,the "web of love" he created has become evident.messages of heartbreak and tributes of love from folsom - to sacramento, davis and beyond have been posted on social media. ( tiffany ) martinez police say an undercover sting led to the arrest of a would-be child predator. the d-a's office says this should give parents pause to think about what their kids are doing on their phones. kron four's spencer blake reports. (pkg)there wasn't anything unusual going on at this popular martinez park monday. but thursday, police say jose toledo had some bad intentions. a task force that involved six contra costa county police departments and the sheriff's office had set toledo up.he showed up to hidden lakes park with candy and condoms, thinking he was going to have sex with a 13-year-old girl. "we had a picture of him and we knew what he was, we knew what kind of car he was driving and so he pulled into the park and it was over in a matter of seconds when he pulled into the park."the work started two weeks earlier, when an undercover officer posed as the made-up teen on a chat app.paul graves, the county's senior deputy d-a, says toledo had been asking for nude photos before the meet-up at the park had been arranged."that's why we have to have all this stuff going on -- because of these freakin' nut jobs!""even though there wasn't a real child involved in this case, the district attorney's office wants parents to be mindful of chat apps like kik and other ones their kids might be using. they even say some kids disguise apps beneath an icon that looks like a calculator." i asked some families at the park about the apps on their kids' phones.some parents admitted they didn't ever check to see what their children were using or who they were chatting with."do you ever talk to anybody that you don't know on instagram?no. why not?i don't want to get hacked."graves is unaware of any prior sexual offenses in toledo's history.he says the task force was proactive in catching toledo before he met up with a real victim."i know we want to give our children freedom, but knowing that there's people like this out there, it's not a bad idea to check who they're talking to on the phone."toledo is in jail on a two and a half million dollar bail.in martinez, spencer blake, kron four news. ( james ) a man accused of secretly videotaping his roommates having sex -- and then trying to extort them for thousands of dollars -- is out on bail. police say back in march...the suspect --- manindar adama ... and his wife... shared a bedroom with a younger couple in a fremont apartment complex. the younger couple moved out at the end of april but in mid june began receiving anonymous emails from someone claiming they had video of the two having sex... and threatening to send it to family and post it on social media if they refused to pay. police were contacted in july and asked the suspect to provide proof he really had a sex video. that's how police say they determined it was adama. ( james ) police are trying to determine if there are more victims, since adama has lived in 3 places in the last 8 months. ( tiffany ) novato police just released new video of a 'smash and grab' robbery at costco we first reported yesterday. take a look... you can see the men scooping up jewelry... this is the most recent in a string of robberies, including two at a store in danville. a costco representative says, they are still reviewing inventory to assess the value of what was taken. novato police are reviewing videotape surveillance to try and identify the suspects. they say they are working with detectives from danville and foster city to see if the thieves try and sell the stolen jewelry. < "we've been looking at other cases to see if they are all connected. ">( tiffany ) police believe they have identifed the getaway car .... a chevy sonic with paper dealer plates. ( james ) let's head over to the south bay... that's where couches and matresses have just been left on sidewalks... we've been telling you about the increase in illegal dumping in san jose...( tiffany ) now -- as kron4's rob fladeboe reports -- the city is rolling out a new tool to help adress the problem. rob fladeboe/san jose "...beginning today san jose residents with access to a smart phone have access to a new tool that will help them report cases of illegal dumping and a faster response from the city..."san jose mayor sam liccardo announced the launch of a new smart phone app called 'my san jose," a new web tool that makes it extremely easy forfor residents to notify the city about illegal dumping in their neighborhoods. users have the option to attach photos of the dumping.they can also tag the locations to better direct clean up crews to the scene. the reporting party can also track the status of their requests and receive notifications about how and when the complaint is to be resolved.mayor sam liccardo/san jose mayor "...what this app does is to provide a streamlined way for the request for service to get to the right place, we've put a lot of at city hall work into the back end of the process so the complaint gets to the right person right person at city hall..."it's not just for illegal dumping. residednts can also use it toreport graffiti, pot holes, abandoned vehicles and streetlight outages. in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news (grant) ( tiffany ) police are trying to figure out how a fire began at a san rafael school yesterday. it started on a roof that is currently under construction -- at dixie elementary school in the marinwood area. firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control -- and no one was hurt. however, there is still no word on what started the fire. ( tiffany ) officials say new west nile virus cases were discovered in contra costa county. officials with the mosquito and vector control district say two birds are dead and a group of mosquitos have the virus. the birds were discovered in walnut creek and the mosquitos were from discovery bay. so far, these are the first cases reported in contra costa county. officials say fogging is scheduled for tonight in discovery bay. ( tiffany ) bart police are investigating another stolen cell phone from a bart station. this happened yesterday at the west oakland station. police say a man knocked a woman to the ground then stole her phone. no arrests have been made. this comes as bart is launching a program to help riders protect their electronic devices. the transit agency says, it is seeing an increase in cell phone thefts - at bart stations - all across the bay area. through june of this year, bart has already seen 225 cell phone thefts. in 2014, there were 137. (lydia live)it was inside this costco store where investigators say three suspects smashed jewelry cases and stole several pieces.let's take a look at the surveillance video.it shows the men running into the store wearing surgical masks.they ran directly over to the jewelry section and investigators say they used a hammer to smash the cases and stole several pieces of jewelry.the men then ran out of the store and got into a dark colored four door sedan similar to a chevy sonic with paper dealer plates.no weapons were seen and no one was injured.this isn't the first time a bay area costco has been targeted in a smash and grab.similar incidents have happened in danville and foster city.if you have any information on this robbery please call the novato police department.reporting live in novato, lydia pantazes kron4 news. ( mark ) thanks lydia. we will check back with you through out the morning. the gun at me. my hands are right hereno you don't understand because you still have the gun on me bro">( darya ) tense moments in the south bay when a driver and passenger are held at gunpoint for nearly 10- minutes. this happened during a traffic stop along highway 101 in san jose last week. the cambell police officer pulled the driver over for speeding. police say the passenger reached for something and that is when the officer drew his gun. he kept it pointed at the man while he waited for backup. the police department says the officer was within his rights to draw his gun. ( darya ) no arrests were made but the driver was ticketed for speeding, and the passenger was ticketed for not wearing his seat belt properly. ( darya ) new this morning... a man is robbed at gunpoint at an east bay bart station. the thieves are still on the loose. the robbery happened last night at the fruitvale station. (áááátriggerááá) the victim says he was sitting in his car in the parking lot when two men walked up... pointed a gun at him and demanded money. the man said he did not have any money so the thieves took his cell phone and ran off. the victim was not injured. ( mark ) a 15-hour police standoff in san francisco is now over... and a gunman is in custody. this story was breaking yesterday on the kron four morning news. the incident happened near 15th and beaver streets when police responded to a shooting late sunday night. a woman was shot and later died at the hospital. police at the scene found a man who they suspected was the gunman. he barricaded himself inside his home and refused to leave. the standoff lasted for 15 hours before the man surrendered to police yesterday afternoon. they say he shot himself in the chest and is in critical condition. the motive for the shooting is not clear, but neighbors say police were frequently called to the home. ( mark ) hayward police are investigating the death of a man who was found inside a room at a motel 6. police discovered the body of a 44 year-old man yesterday afternoon on industrial parkway. it is unclear how the man died...but his death was ruled a homicide. the victim's name has not been released...and no one has been arrested. ( darya ) palo alto police have arrested a man accused of setting a string of fires. 23-year-old terry lee hill junior is in jail this morning. police say he matched the description of a person caught on surveillance cameras near several arson fires. four of those fires were set last friday morning. one of them damaged a car. ( darya ) a pleasant hill family was able to recover a children's train ride ... through the help of social media. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. this is video of the train. the amusement ride was stolen early sunday morning along with the trailer. police say a facebook post is what led to the train being found. someone saw the post and then spotted the trailer behind a yoga studio in walnut creek. the owner is thankful the trian was found: ( darya ) the company says it will donate the use of the train to the favorite charity of the woman who found it. ( mark ) president trump may have directed his son to give false information about a meeting between donald trump junior and a russian attorney during the presidential election. this morning the washington post is reporting that the president personally dictated his son's a statement that the meeting was about a russian adoption program. it was later revealed that the meeting was accepted after the lawyer promised damaging information about hillary clinton. the president's attorney issued a statement last night calling the report misinformed and inaccurate. ( mark ) after just ten days on the job... anthony scaramucci has already been fired from his job as communications director. his abrupt removal comes just 10 days after he was hired to replace former press secretary sean spicer. on friday....chief of staff reince priebus resigned and was replaced by homeland security secretary john kelly. there are reports out this morning that kelly wanted scaramucci removed from his position because he did not think he was disciplined and kelly questioned his credibility. ( darya ) people living in san jose are demanding change to the city's firworks reporting policy. this comes after several people were fined hundreds, some even thousands of dollars for illegal fireworks they never used. one woman was fined five-hundred dollars after some warriors fans set off fireworks to celebrate the championship in june. she says someone reported the claim on the city's illegal fireworks website. when she called the fire department she was told that there is no need for photo or video evidence to be fined. all the department needs is two reports from witnesses. ( darya ) her neighbor was fined 12-hundred dollars in citations for the same claim. to contest the fees, they have to pay the fine before they get a hearing. then they will be refunded if proven innocent. both women plan to attend the next city council meeting to fight a change in the reporting system. ( darya ) a mother and father in oregon claim they lost custody of their two sons because they were not intelligent enough to be parents. court documents say the couple's "limited cognitive abilities" interfere with them being able to take care of their children. a person living with the couple filed a complaint saying they were worried about the children's wellbeing. both of the parents were given an i-q test. both received a score of about 70. the average i-q is between 90 and 100. officials removed the kids from their custody. support for your child, being able to care for your child."> ( darya ) officials say the father's low score on the i-q test categorized him as having an intellectual disability. child welfare officials say an i-q is not the only factor it considers when it decides to take a child away parents. (pkg)there wasn't anything unusual going on at this popular martinez park monday. but thursday, police say jose toledo had some bad intentions. a task force that involved six contra costa county police departments and the sheriff's office had set toledo up.he showed up to hidden lakes park with candy and condoms, thinking he was going to have sex with a 13-year-old girl. "we had a picture of him and we knew what he was, we knew what kind of car he was driving and so he pulled into the park and it was over in a matter of seconds when he pulled into the park."the work started two weeks earlier, when an undercover officer posed as the made-up teen on a chat app.paul graves, the county's senior deputy d-a, says toledo had been asking for nude photos before the meet-up at the park had been arranged."that's why we have to have all this stuff going on -- because of these freakin' nut jobs!""even though there wasn't a real child involved in this case, the district attorney's office wants parents to be mindful of chat apps like kik and other ones their kids might be using. they even say some kids disguise apps beneath an icon that looks like a calculator." i asked some families at the park about the apps on their kids' phones.some parents admitted they didn't ever check to see what their children were using or who they were chatting with."do you ever talk to anybody that you don't know on instagram?no. why not?i don't want to get hacked."graves is unaware of any prior sexual offenses in toledo's history.he says the task force was proactive in catching toledo before he met up with a real victim."i know we want to give our children freedom, but knowing that there's people like this out there, it's not a bad idea to check who they're talking to on the phone."toledo is in jail on a two and a half million dollar bail.in martinez, spencer blake, kron four news. ( mark ) new cases of west nile virus are discovered in contra costa county. officials with the mosquito and vector control district say two dead birds and a group of mosquitos have the virus. the birds were discovered in walnut creek and the mosquitos were from discovery bay. so far, these are the first cases reported in contra costa county. officials say fogging is scheduled for tonight in discovery bay. ( mark ) a man accused of secretly videotaping his roommates having sex -- and then trying to blackmail them for thousands of dollars -- is out on bail. police say manindar adama ... and his wife shared a bedroom with a younger couple in a fremont apartment complex. the younger couple moved out at the end of april. but in june the young couple began receiving anonymous emails from someone claiming they had video of the two having sex... and threatening to post it on social media if they refused to pay. the couple contacted police. ( mark ) police are trying to determine if there are more victims, since adama has lived in 3 places in the last 8 months. ( darya ) firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire at a san rafael school yesterday. it started on the school's roof that is currently under construction -- at dixie elementary school in the marinwood area. no one was hurt. ( darya ) the millenium tower in san francisco may be leaning but it is perfectly safe in an earthquake. that is according to a new study by an expert panel. they found that the 58-story building can withstand an 8-point-0 magnitude earthquake. the building's developer has insisted that despite the leaning... the building is safe. the millenium tower opened in 2009. since then it has sunk 17 inches and is leaning more than a foot. crews right now are working on a solution to ( darya ) the city of san jose is seeing a spike in illegal dumping and now city officials are rolling out a new tool help solve the problem.( mark ) kron 4's rob fladeboe has the details. rob fladeboe/san jose "...beginning today san jose residents with access to a smart phone have access to a new tool that will help them report cases of illegal dumping and a faster response from the city..."san jose mayor sam liccardo announced the launch of a new smart phone app called 'my san jose," a new web tool that makes it extremely easy forfor residents to notify the city about illegal dumping in their neighborhoods. users have the option to attach photos of the dumping.they can also tag the locations to better direct clean up crews to the scene. the reporting party can also track the status of their requests and receive notifications about how and when the complaint is to be resolved.mayor sam liccardo/san jose mayor "...what this app does is to provide a streamlined way for the request for service to get to the right place, we've put a lot of at city hall work into the back end of the process so the complaint gets to the right person right person at city hall..."it's not just for illegal dumping. residednts can also use it toreport graffiti, pot holes, abandoned vehicles and streetlight outages. in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news ( mark ) police find the body of a female hiker in yosemite national park. a park spokesperson confirmed that the body was found in the northwestern portion of the park... along the pacific crest trail. the name of the woman has not been released. this discovery comes about a week after the body of another hiker was found along the pacific crest trail in kings canyon national park. ( mark ) twelve inmates who escaped from an alabam prison used peanut butter to trick a guard into opening the outside door. according to investigators... the inmates smeared peanut butter over the numbers on the door. the caused a new jail employee to think he was opening a door to more jail cells when he was actually unlocking and opening the door to the outside. all but one of the 12 inmates has been recaptured. (darya) tense moments in the south bay when a driver and passenger are held at gunpoint for nearly 10-minutes. this happened during a traffic stop along highway 101 in san jose last week. the cambell police officer pulled the driver over for speeding. police say the passenger reached for something and that is when the officer drew his gun. he kept it pointed at the man while he waited for backup. the police department says the officer was within his rights to draw his gun. told the occupants in the car why don't you wait just here i'll be right back. it was at that point the occupants started reaching under the seat.">(darya) no arrests were made but the driver was ticketed for speeding, and the passenger was ticketed for not wearing his seat belt (mark) a man is robbed at gunpoint at an east bay bart station and the thieves are still on the loose. the robbery happened last night at the fruitvale station. (áááátriggerááá) the victim says he was sitting in his car in the parking lot when two men walked up... pointed a gun at him and demanded money. the man said he did not have any money so the thieves took his cell phone and ran off. the victim was not injured. (mark) hayward police are investigating the death of a man who was found inside a room at a motel 6. police discovered the body of a 44 year-old man yesterday afternoon on industrial parkway. it is unclear how the man died...but his death was ruled a homicide. the victim's name has not been released...and no one has been arrested. (darya) a 15-hour police standoff in san francisco is now over... and a gunman is in custody. this story was breaking yesterday on the kron four morning news. the incident happened near 15th and beaver streets when police responded to a shooting late sunday night. a woman was shot and later died at the hospital. police at the scene found a man who they suspected was the gunman. he barricaded himself inside his home and refused to leave. the standoff lasted for 15 hours before the man surrendered to police yesterday afternoon. they say he shot himself in the chest and is in critical condition. the motive for the shooting is not clear, but neighbors say police were frequently called to the home. (darya) palo alto police have arrested a man accused of setting a string of fires. 23-year-old terry lee hill junior is in jail this morning. police say he matched the description of a person caught on surveillance cameras near several arson fires. four of those fires were set last friday morning. one of them damaged a car. (mark) a pleasant hill family was able to recover a children's train ride ... through the help of social media. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. this is video of the train. the amusement ride was stolen early sunday morning along with the trailer. police say a facebook post is what led to the train being found. someone saw the post and then spotted the trailer behind a yoga studio in walnut creek. the owner is thankful the trian was found: (mark) the company says it will donate the use of the train to the favorite charity of the woman who found it. (darya) new this morning.... president trump may have directed his son to give false information about a meeting he had with a russian attorney during the presidential election. tiffany mcelroy is at the breaking news desk with the details. tiffany? ( tiffany @ flash ) this morning the washington post is reporting that the president personally dictated his son's a statement that the meeting with the russian lawyer was about a russian adoption program, not about gathering damaging information on the clinton campaign.the post reports that president trump dictated the misleading statement while flying back to washington from the g20 summit aboard air force one. it was later revealed that the meeting was accepted after the lawyer promised damaging information about hillary clinton, although donald trump jr had said it had not, in his initial statement,.an email chain, posted online by trump junior showed the meeting was offered as part of a russian government effort to help his father's campaign.the president's attorney issued a statement last night calling the report misinformed and inaccurate.back to you. (darya) after just ten days on the job... anthony scaramucci has already been fired from his job as communications director. his abrupt removal comes just 10 days after he was hired to replace former press secretary sean spicer. on friday....chief of staff reince priebus resigned and was replaced by homeland security secretary john kelly. there are reports out this moring that kelly wanted scaramucci removed from his position because he did not think he was disciplined and kelly questioned his credibility. (mark) a woman claims she had a sexual relationship with former baseball great pete rose when she was a teenager in the 19-70's. her testimony was submitted by defense attorneys in a federal lawsuit that rose filed against a lawyer last year. rose says the lawyer defamed him in 20-15 by saying he raped girls during spring training. the woman claims that they began a sexual relationship in cincinnati when she was 14 or 15-years- old. rose says that he did have a relationship with the woman starting when she was 16- years-old, which is the age of consent in ohio. (darya) people living in san jose are demanding change to the city's firworks reporting policy. this comes after several people were fined hundreds, some even thousands of dollars for illegal fireworks they never used. one woman was fined five-hundred dollars after some warriors fans set off fireworks to celebrate the championship in june. she says someone reported the claim on the city's illegal fireworks website. when she called the fire department she was told that there is no need for photo or video evidence to be fined. all the department needs is two reports from witnesses. (darya) her neighbor was fined 12- hundred dollars in citations for the same claim. to contest the fees, they have to pay the fine before they get a hearing. then they will be refunded if proven innocent. both women plan to attend the next city council meeting to fight a change in the reporting system. (mark) los angeles has been picked as the city to host the 2028 summer olympics. a tentative deal was reached yesterday between l-a city officials and olympic organizers. the international olympic committee says it will give nearly two billion dollars to the city as part of the deal. the money is designed to help boost youth sports programs years before the games. this will be the first time since 1996 that the united states has hosted the summer olympics. (mark) president trump congratulated los angeles saying he believes the city will - quote - "exemplify both the olympic ideal and the american spirit." l-a last hosted the summer games in 1984. (darya) californians will soon find out how much it will cost to buy individual insurance plans under the affordable care act. the announcement yesterday comes at a time of extreme uncertainty about the future of the u-s health care system. a republican plan to take out key pieces of former president obama's law failed in the senate last week, but president trump has repeatedly urged lawmakers to keep working on it. state health officials warned earlier this year that monthly premiums would likely rise significantly if insurers worry that those payments won't be guaranteed in 20-18. (darya) environmental groups are suing the federal government over vehicle emissions. the lawsuit claims that a federal safeguard meant to reduce climate-changing emissions was abruptly withdrawn in may. it says the federal highway administration suspended a safeguard requiring states to measure and set reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions by highway vehicles. the groups have asked a judge to declare that the suspension violated federal law because it was imposed without providing public notice. (mark) a security camera captured this would-be burglar as he kicks in the door to an illinois home. he listens to see if anyone is home -- not knowing that a 16 year old girl had locked herself in a room upstairs and called her mother. the teen's mother says she was about 8 minutes away from home as she pulled up the security camera on her phone -- watching helplessly as the man made his way up the stairs towards her daughter's room. (mark) the mother says her daughter ran down the stairs a minute later and saw the intruder get into a silver car and drive away. she has no idea what the man's intentions were -- but is just glad her safe. . and here's a live look outside... san mateo bridge. (mark) a kentucky doctor who was at the hospital to give birth to her own baby, took time to delivery another patient's baby first.(darya) this is doctor amanda hess after she gave birth on sunday in kentucky. she heard there was a woman who needed to deliver immediately because the baby was in distress.(mark) the on-call doctor at the hospital had just left for a break. so doctor hess put on another gown, put on her hospital boots and helped deliver the baby. she then later delivered her own baby. ( darya ) new this morning... a man suspected of killing another man in half moon bay is being released from jail. prosecutors say they want to give police more time to finish their investigation. the attack happened last week. police say the victim was stabbed to death after fight on main street. police arrested john peters at the scene on suspicion of killing the other man. (mark) new cases of west nile virus are discovered in contra costa county. officials with the mosquito and vector control district say two dead birds and a group of mosquitos have the virus. the birds were discovered in walnut creek and the mosquitos were from discovery bay. so far, these are the first cases reported in contra costa county. officials say fogging is scheduled for tonight in discovery bay. ( mark ) a man accused of secretly videotaping his roommates having sex -- and then trying to blackmail them for thousands of dollars -- is out on bail. police say manindar adama ... and his wife shared a bedroom with a younger couple in a fremont apartment complex. the younger couple moved out at the end of april. but in june the young couple began receiving anonymous emails from someone claiming they had video of the two having sex... and threatening to post it on social media if they refused to pay. the couple contacted police. ( mark ) police are trying to determine if there are more victims, since adama has lived in 3 places in the last 8 months. (mark) the city of san jose is seeing a spike in illegal dumping and now city officials are rolling out a new tool help solve the problem. san jose mayor sam liccardo announced the launch of a new smart phone app called "my san jose." the app can be used to notify city officials about illegal dumping in their neighborhood. users can attach photos and direct cleanup crews to the location. the app will also send notifications to let people know when the reported area is cleaned up. (mark) the app is not only meant for illegal dumping. people can also use it to report graffiti... pot holes... abandoned cars and streetlight outages. ( darya ) the j-c penney's at richmond's hilltop mall has closed its doors for good. despite the closure, there is a plan for a major upgrade of the mall. the store has been in richmond since the 1970's. but an investment group recently bought the the shopping center with plans to remodel. the group has not yet said what will happen to the other stores in the mall or what new retailers might be brought in to fill the empty spaces. shoppers we spoke with say the mall could use a fresh start. think he was opening a door to more jail cells when he was actually unlocking and opening the door to the outside. all but one of the 12 inmates has been recaptured. (mark) the millenium tower in san francisco may be leaning but it is perfectly safe in an earthquake. that is according to a new study by an expert panel. they found that the 58-story building can withstand an 8-point-0 magnitude earthquake. the building's developer has insisted that despite the leaning... the building is safe. the millenium tower opened in 2009. since then it has sunk 17 inches and is leaning more than a foot. crews right now are working on a solution to the problem. (darya) one couple in oregon claims they lost custody of their two sons because they were not intelligent enough. court documents say the couple's "limited cognitive abilities" interfere with them being able to take care of their children. a person living with the couple filed a complaint saying they were worried about the children's wellbeing. both of the parents were then given an i-q test. both received a score of about 70. the average i-q is between 90 and 100. (darya) officials say the father's low score on the i-q test categorized him as having an intellectual disability. child welfare officials say an iq is not the only factor it considers when it decides to take a child away from their parents. (mark) new jersey governor chris christie is responding after he was caught on camera confronting a heckler at a baseball game. we first told you about this yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. christie was at the cubs game over the weekend. as he was walking up the stairs a fan confronted the governor. the entire incident was caught on camera. christie says public officials are public servants... not public punching bags. < gov. chris christie: i'm at a ball game with my son enjoying the game, having no interaction with anybody on public policy issues or anything else, i don't think it's the right of anybody to stand up and swear you and curse you out. and i've gone through this before on the boardwalk and other places, and i've always had the same response. i'll ignore it when it first happens, but if you persist then you're going to get a reaction.">(mark) this isn't the first time the governor has had a problem at a baseball game recently. he was booed by fans a couple of weeks ago after catching a foul ball at a game between the saint louis new york mets.
