Hotel to disrupt trump breaking through barricades and rushing officers in riot gear. Those protesters were pushed back by police who say they were able to keep the crowd out. Some officers were hit by eggs thrown by protesters, more than one Wearing Masks and not all friendly with the media. While many signs denounced the republican frontrunner, one person called on people to love trump but dont elect him. Just because i love you doesnt mean i cant oppose you until the last bitter day. Reporter there was a very vocal opposition. I believe in my country. I believe in all my rights and freedom to do whatever you want. I came out to support trump because im wearing my flags and showing my colors. Im not afraid. Reporter at least one of those flags got stolen and burned up on the grass. Burlingame police tell me that a san mateo sheriffs deputy was injured in a scuffle while trying to arrest an unruly protester. The deputy was allegedly kicked in the face by another associate of that person. That sheriffs deputy received only minor injuries, was treated and released. The alleged assailant and four other people were arrested. We have talked about this earlier, but the unusual way that trump entered the building and exited the convention, we have more details on that. What did he do . You know almost nothing is typical with trump. Thats true. Word came there were some roads blocked. You see the motorcade here on 101. The motorcade got creative and dipped in the backdoor after traversing through a fenced area down a grassy ditch. Well speed it up. Theyre on southbound 101. You see them get off the freeway, cross over it and then police shut down northbound 101 momentarily. You see the caravan briefly merging onto 101 only to pull a uturn. Then they stop and zoom in and see trump and the secret Service Agents getting out. Well speed it up again. They squeeze through these barriers around some fencing and then theyll slow down to a real speed. You see them hop down into a ditch. There goes trump, sort of a rocky descent, but he has people there to sort of help him and then up the incline again getting a little assistance and hes back onto asphalt, trump beginning his remarks by saying that wasnt the easiest entrance ive ever made. Feels like i just crossed the border, but i got here, trumps words. After he did address that crowd for 20 to 25 minutes his handlers pit reverse. They left the hyatt the same way they came in, down the ditch, back through the barriers, around the fencing into the suvs. Trump may have to get more accustomed to such maneuvers if protesters continue to block his path and roads to events on the campaign trail. Inside the hyatt trump told the convention audience the party needs to unify behind him as the nominee, but he added even if it doesnt do, that he thinks he can beat hillary clinton. We were inside the Convention Hall for trumps speech. We have more on that now. Dan . Reporter this is definitely trump beak trump on many familiar themes and saying yes, we want party being trump on many familiar themes and saying yes, we want party unity, but if we dont get it, thats fine. Gop frontrunner donald trump bashed the likes of fellow republicans ted cruz, john kasich and jeb bush and then called for party unity. There should be and there has to be unity. Now with that being said, would i win, can i win without it . I think so to be honest because theyre going to vote for me. Theyre not voting for jeb bush didnt support you, big deal, like i care, okay . Reporter theres talk if trump doesnt have enough delegates on the first ballot when the Gop Convention rolls around, Party Faithful could pick someone else. During his noon time speech, though, he warned against that. Im different because im going to win states that nobody else can and when i can focus on hillary as i say, crooked hillary, when i focus on hillary, shell go down easier than any of the people we just beat. Reporter trump also hit on a few familiar topics such as immigration and building a wall on the u. S. mexico border. See the way they go over our little fences. These guys are amazing. They climb over it like its not even there. They go through it, over it. Its not going to happen with what were going to do. Reporter for the majority of the 600 people who paid 100 a head to see trump it was just what they wanted to hear. He says it the way it is. He never lies. Hes not a politician. He calls it how it is. Hes a businessman. Thats what america needs. Charming, realistic. Hes a leader. I think that hes really doing a good job now bringing people together and i think thats where hes headed. I think the entire party will align behind him and i think were going to win. Reporter back live at the hyatt in burlingame, tonight john kasich will speak before gop faithful. Tomorrow ted cruz will building here, Carly Fiorina tomorrow evening. It was Just Announced shes cruzs running mate. Kasich will be talking to the Common Wealth club in San Francisco. The texas senator spent the day in indiana which is now a mick or break state for his political future. It is the common sense and good judgment of the Hoosier State that is the one thing that stands between us and plunging over the cliff. Cruz and would be running mate Carly Fiorina urged indiana voters to reject what she calls Donald Trumps false conservatism. Because we are at a crossroads for our party and nation and the Hoosier State is right at that crossroads. Cruz and trump are in a tight battle for indianas 57 delegates next week. A win for cruz would keep his hopes alive that a chaotic contested convention would turn to him, but nine out of 10 republicans say its over. Trump will be their nominee. An equal number of democrats feel the same about hillary clinton. Trump has already turned to his likely opponent tweeting today, crooked hillary clinton, perhaps the most dishonest person to have ever run for the presidency is also one of the all time great enablers. Asked for her response to such a text, clinton cited her own personal history. I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak. He can say whatever he wants to say about me. I could really care less. More concerning is that the rasmussen poll found that for the first time the two frontrunners are tied in a head to head contest, almost one in four voters saying they wont vote for either one. Hillary clinton is coming back to the bay area next week. This time it will not be for a big money closed door fundraiser. She has announced a Public Campaign rally in oakland that will be a week from today. Her Campaign Says that shes going to talk about her plan to raise incomes for families and break down the barriers that hold californians back. The protest against donald trump today happened in nice weather at least if you had to be outside. It has been absolutely beautiful. Were looking live over the embarcardero. San Francisco Police officers are getting new training after explosive revelations this week about the exchange of more racist and homophobic texts. The police chief released details today underscoring the need for change. Reporter youre looking at nine pages of racist and homophobic text conversations recovered from cell phones of two San FranciscoPolice Officers. The texts are so bad we wont show you whats said here, but sfpd chief greg suhr said its time for him to let the public know. I want to let the public know that we heard loud and clear you want it all. Reporter these texts were found during an unrelated investigation involving sfpd officer jason lye. It was first made public tuesday by the San Francisco public defender. Three days later flanked by his command staff and community leaders, chief greg suhr announced his officers will receive new training to prevent this from happening again. These Text Messages are not examples of implicit bias, but they are clear examples of explicit bias existing in the San FranciscoPolice Department. Effective immediately and with the help of city Human Resources every member of the San FranciscoPolice Department will be taking prevention of harassment and discrimination in the Workplace Training that clearly describes what is unacceptable behavior and the responsibilities of officers to report such conduct immediately. Reporter the announcement of new training was well received by the executive director of the sf office of citizen complaints. I commend chief suhr and his staff for identifying the latest round of Text Messages and taking prompt action. Reporter there are still those in this community who remain dissatisfied with these ongoing problems at sfpd and wants to see chief suhr run out of office, but he doesnt sound like hes got any intentions of going. I have no intention of resigning. I intend to put in the reforms that were doing rking with these people to get that done. Reporter haaziq madyun, kron 4 news. Last week Governor Brown declared a state of emergency for Contra Costa County and 10 other counties to help with damage caused by the march storms. Officials say they have not yet received any of that money. Today no storms, just beautiful, maybe a little breezy. Our meteorologist Brittney Shipp is here, but it was just gorgeous. The rest of tonight well see clearing skies, lots of shine expected tomorrow and our highs around the region, lots of 80s back on the map, 80 degrees in san j
