Has been expelled. The incident happened back in november when the 16 yearold year old victim was filmed in a bathroom stall after Cross Country practice by a fellow athlete. The parents of the victim criticzed School Officials for not doing enough to punish the teen. In the first five months of this year. 165 vehicles have been stolen. 48 of the stolen cars were found in livermore and 98 were found throughout the bay area and the Central Valley. So far police have arrested 13 different people for stealing or possessing stolen vehicles. The livermore Police Department is working with the community to reduce the problem. grant highway 12 is back open today after a grass fire forced along the highway forced an apartment complex to evacuate. San diego county officials found about 15 palmsized animals in trash bags and thrown away. Unfortunately, 6 did not make it. However, the survivors are now in good condition. The conviction of three Santa Clara County jail guards has renewed calls for reforms at the jail. Tonight we will look at some of the changes already put in place. Kron 4 news at six is next. pam police in livermore are concerned about the rising number of car thefts. Good evening, im pam moore. steve and im steve aveson. In the first five months of 2017, there have already been over 150 cars stolen thats 56 percent of last years total. Kron fours Spencer Blake spoke with police today, and joins us live. Spencer, where in livermore have these thefts been happening . Really the quick answer to that is all over. In fact, the Police Department sent us a map showing where the thefts have happened this year. There is no concentration, no hot spot just dots all over the city. We know theyve also happened in all atypes of places parking lots, residential streets, apartment complexes you name it. This is the Reason Police sent us this information they want everyone to know that it actually is a problem, and its been getting worse. We know of one suspect who was connected to the theft of 10 trucks over the course of 16 days, but aside from that, its hard to say if citywide car thefts are related. Lieutenant john hurd says there are as many theories as there are stolen vehicles. Weve made 13 arrests this year of people either stealing a vehicle or being in possession of a stolen vehicle. County supervisor dave cortese would like to see them housed in a different facility at some point but short of that. Dave cortese county supervisor weve dramatically increased the number of psychiatric and medical professionals in the jail system, we know were understaffed, but its expensive and you cant skimp on that, weve certainly learned that lesson.
